I've never understood the hate for this commentary.
In the WWE universe.. Christian had been a jerk to everyone for years and just disappeared for a few years. So why would they be like 'MY GOD ITS CHRISTIAN! YAY!!'
If you saw someone for the first time in 3/4 years who was a giant a-clown to everyone you'd just be like 'er.. whys he here?'

The fact that they weren't overjoyed was all well and good, considering he left the WWE as a heel in 2005, but they could have at least shown a little more enthusiasm, seeing as he was a prominent uppercard worker for the last few years with the company. Not a main eventer, but he was in US title feuds before leaving.
At least the announcers could have asked WHAT IS CHRISTIAN DOING IN THE.. uhh.. EXTREME ZONE?!
Or something like that.

Well he was wrestling in some Orlando amusement park in front of 50 people with crossed lines, so I don't blame them.

Everyone who returns after an extended absence gets a monster pop, regardless of how big a heel they were when they left.
They're glad to see them back.

Former world champ...way different...it would be like if Bubba Ray Dudley came back honestly....if you look at it strictly WWE wise...

Thing is, Christian was getting face pops when he left.

Thing is, Christian was getting face pops when he left. Yeah, I would put it at how Orton is now (though maybe not at that calibre?). Perhaps Vince didn't really want Striker to overreact because of who was returning, considering the circumstances -- even though the most extreme Christian ever said against the 'E was 'I wasn't used properly'.

In a way, Christian not being pushed properly was the Killswitch (unpretty pun intended) to Cena's popularity, I remember after Cena beat Christian and Jericho, he became supeman and the boos started a' coming.
Remember that he was suppose to come back a heel, helping Edge out by trying to murder Jeff Harvey.

The supposed face pops Christian was getting towards the end of his WWE run are GREATLY exaggerated. Were they there? Yeah. But it wasn't like the entire arena was going nuts for him. It was more like a portion of the audience, and not even in every city.

I'd like to think that the lack of enthusiasm was because Todd Grisham was in complete and utter disbelief that he was back after a hiatus.

I took Grisham's delivery as more shock than anything.

the ovation he got when he came out and interupted Cena during the draft episode was enough to show you that the fans loved his heel gimmick enough to cheer him

You don't treat every single moment as if it's the biggest thing ever, certainly not if you want the actual big moments to mean something. If they sold a Christian return like it was Cena coming back, it makes Cena and the main eventers look bad.
TNA tries to make everything look massive and shocking, and it's excruciating. Christian was coming back to do a job on the C show, and was a mid-carder his entire career. He didn't deserve the reaction some people are suggesting he gets.
