The only time it really bothers me is the video games, where they literally never, ever say "wrestling" or "wrestlers." It isn't as pervasive on TV as people make out, or JBL wouldn't have gotten away with calling himself "A wrestling GAAAAWWWWD!" for years. what about CAW modes... they don't call it CASE

20 mins of competitive touching ang shoving. Forget "sports entertainment" AND "pro wrestling". It needs to be renamed "Competitive Touching and Shoving" NOW. I'd love to hear "The WWE, for over 50 years, the revolutionary force in competitive touching and shoving."

I think too many people get confused between two different things, and most of this are wresters' fault for their in-ring worked "shoots".
When people talk about "sports entertainment", people are referring to gimmicks, crazy storylines, catchphrases, talk shows, and things like that. And then ofcourse, when they speak of "wrestling", they're talking about the in ring action.
I think this philosophy is tremendously flawed. pro wrestling has always been "sports entertainment". It was sports entertainment when Bruno Sammartino, Bob backlund, and Killer kahn wrestled. Sports Entertainment is just a term to describe all of the extra things that go on besides the wrestling part, obviously, but I think too many people completely forget all of the non wrestling based things that go on for "wrestling".
"Wrestling" has so many non wrestling things not only in it, but so much apart of it that the "wrestling" is dependent on it. Backstage interviews, backstage attacks, weapons, cheating, and basic storylines like "revenge".
Sports entertainment is just when you identify the whole package, with wrestling being the biggest part of it. What we call "sports entertainment" would really just be "advanced sports entertainment" where you have the regular sports entertainment plus a few extreme things thrown in. People unfairly label just the extreme things as "sports entertainment" and label everything else as "wrestling".
The old ECW was "sports entertainment" if there ever was one.
Sports entertainment ACCURATELY describes what these people do for a living, and therefore, whether or not we call it that, that's still what it actually is. It's difficult to call something that is more physical than most sports to be a non sport, by calling it just entertainment, and calling it just a sport takes away from all of the difficult live performing arts that even hollywood stars can't do well.
