I don't know if this was what they were told to say or if it was just JR but i've just noticed how much they brought up the wrestler's ages.
'William Regal the 30 year old from Blackpool, England'
'The Rock, the 28 year old, is on fire here!'
Nowadays, I don't have a clue how old anyone is.

I think they did mainly to point out how young most of their roster were at the time, compared to some of the older guys that were main eventing in WCW. I remember JR often saying "This isn't the seniors tour!" and stuff like that.
Just another dig at the competition.

Yep, it was to brand themselves as the promotion with the fresher talent.
Over ten years later with a lot of the same guys on the roster, yeah they don't bring it up as much.

I remember The Rock being "27" for like three years.

I don't want to know how old wrestlers are because I know that one day soon, there's going to be a WWE superstar that is younger than me. I don't want to feel old.
Update: Oh god, it's going to happen soon. Can someone get Taylor Rotundo fired for me please?

Once he moves up to the main roster he will be the first wrestler in WWE younger than me. I feel old now.

Cody Rhodes is exactly as old as me, and Alicia Fox is one year younger.
Sigh.

It wasn't just in the Attitude era. I remember Gorilla Monsoon in the 1993 Royal Rumble.
"There's a lot of fire in this youngster" he said, as the 47 year old Carlos Colon made his way down to the ring.
He also made a lot of the fact that Bob Backlund was making a comeback at the ripe old age of 43, as he was being chopped by Ric Flair (seven months older)

DiBiase brings up his age every once in awhile, but that's about it.
Which one's older, Hornswoggle or Kelly Kelly? I remember they're the two youngest ones on the roster, but forget which is younger.
Related, remember when they were hyping up Rene Dupree as the youngest guy to ever win a title in WWE? He still have that distinction, or did Kenny take it?
Edit: Oh, duh, it's probably Hornswoggle with that distinction as youngest champion now, isn't it?

JR would dig at WCW a lot. And it was JR being JR. He also mentioned Albert's head size.

Dupree still has it, I believe, as he was 19, and I think Hornswoggle was about 21 when he won the Cruiserweight title.
