DH Smith so he can hone his craft in Japan Wasn't that also the case with Ted DiBiase Jr.? More or less. Both guys are still the second banana in the teams they were in, compared to their current/former partners, but they are better off than they would have been.

Wasn't Rob Conway offered a contract and he rejected them? Yea he had a steady job and knew he would be brought as a jobber and probably back to where he was but without a job a year or so later when he would get released

I remember this. I'd love for him to say "AND HERE WE GO!" at the begenning of a WWE match and "IT IS ALLLL OVER!!!" when it's done. On a semi related note, I really wish the WWE would offer Mauro Ranallo a contract. He has the perfect voice and style for them.

Think I recall a while back, like a year and a bit ago, that Robert Roode's contract was up and that WWE were interested in signing him.
Obviously that never came to be.

Is it true that Samoa Joe was offered the role of Umaga but turned it down?

Wow, no one's mentioned the Desomnd Wolfe situation, though that might not count because they were hesitating because of an injury.

Is it true that Samoa Joe was offered the role of Umaga but turned it down? Joe was offered a contract, but people assumed he would have been Umaga since that character debuted shortly after he turned down WWE's offer.

The WWE taking over TNA thread made me think of this. Obviously Sting would be the most triumphant example, but word on the street seems to be at least AJ Styles and Joe have been offered contracts as well, but have declined. Anybody got any more concrete info on this sort of thing? To be fair, those were developmental deals where they'd have been making garbage wages. Unless you're talking about different offers. AJ was offered a developmental deal right around the time TNA started. He turned it down because it was a low money offer, plus he had recently gotten married and didn't want to move. Joe was in talks with WWE when his contract with TNA expired in 2006 but he chose to sign a long term deal to stay in TNA
