Am I the only one who absolutely pays no attention to this?
I see thread after thread on this board and every other I've ever been on about this guy's theme and that guy's theme and how if they changed their theme this would happen or whatever ... and I cannot for the life of me see why anyone cares about this.
Jericho could come into the ring to "Happy Birthday" or Lady Gaga and he'd still be the exact same Jericho to me.
WTF am I missing?

You may have a point, but when the right theme song is given to a wrestler, it can become iconic. Stone Cold, Rock, hbk, hhh (even though he's had a couple themes), Taker, Cena, etc. all have immediately identifiable themes to which they are inextricably linked. Exactly what effect these themes have on sales or viewership is a matter of debate and would make for an interesting study.
But, I think people would cry foul if the themes went that far in the opposite direction.

its bcause you are a fixed fan,you arent one of the guys on the crowd, the song has power to give a "vibe",it likes part of his gimmick,a good theme song can make a good vibe, give good reactions.Besides, its cool.

I agree, imagine Austin keeping that high stringed Ringmaster theme he started with. Some themes just help further develop a character.

I'd mark for Jericho coming out to Gaga.

I know I was a bit iffy about "Voices" when Orton debuted with it, but he just began to gel with it. It was a huge step forward in character development with him.
Same thing with Miz and his new song.
Song's a part of your character. Sometimes ya stick to that character, or simply change to the point you don't need a new song...(Shawn comes to mind..) but I think it helps a lot of guys with transitioning...I know someone here brought up MVP needing a new theme and I'd completely agree..at least to reflect what he is today..

Jericho could come into the ring to "Happy Birthday" or Lady Gaga and he'd still be the exact same Jericho to me. I just pictured serious Jericho walking to the ring with Happy Birthday playing and laughed for about 5 minutes ....... thanks! ;D

I don't care about a lot of the newer themes 'cause they all sound alike. Guys like Jericho. Cena, Kane, and even Punk, Orton and Edge have themes that I care about. And maybe Miz. I actually identify the theme with the wrestler. A lot of other "nu metal" type themes are interchangeable.

I'd like to see Owl City come up with a theme for Justin Gabriel....

Look at Warrior. His theme made his whole gimmick work. Guys like that are the reason themes become important. If they fit the wrestler/gimmick they help make that character unique and set him apart from the bunch. Very true. And it can work the other way as well. There have been wrestlers who've been stuck with horrible themes and it ruins them. I can't think of any off the top of my head, but we all know there have been some terrible theme songs, mainly in WCW....
