Every so often, someone comes in and gets a big sudden push like Sheamus. Whenever this happens, the announcers will say that they've never seen a rise this fast. They said it for Brock, Diesel, Hogan (pretending he was never in the WWF before late 1983). The point of annoucers is to get over the current talent so they have to forget about past examples of fast rises when putting over Sheamus.

They made Lesnar look like God himself. Sheamus is still on his way up in my mind. His booking and character's definitely to blame for that, even with "smarks"/older fans. Sheamus certainly won't look as favorably in comparison to Brock when he's portrayed as a bully who picks and chooses his fights. He could believably be a destroyer though, IMO.

Just for comparison's sake, where does Goldberg's run in WCW from debut to beating Hogan for the title fit in for rises to the top?

Just for comparison's sake, where does Goldberg's run in WCW from debut to beating Hogan for the title fit in for rises to the top? Debuted September 22nd, won the title July 6th; not sure how many days that is and don't feel like counting, but in terms of months it's about nine and a half.

No shot at Lesnar or even Angle. I doubt that WWE has any ground to take shots at these two. In Lesnar's case since he is ruling the MMA world, which is regarded higher than pro wrestling today and Angle is pretty much ignored since he's a major draw in a promotion WWE would rather not have in any spotlight.
It's plain and simply putting Sheamus over. Wrestling is full of hyperbole.
