The Undertaker comes out sometime before he retires, announces that he was using the body of Mark Calloway as an avatar, but wishes to continue his role in WWE. So he found another.
Find another 6'10" guy who can wrestle pretty well (so that cuts guys like Cottonwood out), and Undertaker touches that guy's forehead. Arena goes dark, when the lights come back on, the new guy is dressed how Undertaker first dressed, sans hat. Calloway is gone, only a black hat left in the ring, which the new guy picks up, and puts on his head as the gong goes off in the arena.
As for Kane...I'll have to think on that one.
Honestly, that would be pretty f***ing awesome.
Too bad we'd all wind up bitching about it if it actually happened.
It'd be justified bitching though, as no one could really pull off the character in the same way. I think even your most casual fan would shit on it.
Really i think Tyler Black could fill this void nicely with the Undertaker/Avatar idea posted above. The biggest complaint is he isn't good on the mic, so give him a gimmick where he doesn't have to talk too much.
Good thing the original Taker didn't talk much in his early years.

I am a strong believer that history repeats itself...
Waaaay back in the day 50s 60 and even 70s ....you have basic wrestlers, no gimmicks. Well you might have had one or 2 gimmicks tops. but pretty much everyone just wore tights and had a generic look. Current WWE is almost fitting that bill, with generic looking wrestlers and a generic style. I believe someday in the future, maybe 15-20 years, gimmicks will once again run wild in the wwe/ wwf(hoping stephanie buys the rights back)

Probably. I really, really enjoy that sort of character, though, so I hope not. They're just hard enough to pull off well and/or credibly, that the possibility of such a gimmick intersecting with the right wrestler seems remote to me.

So in essence the Undertaker can "Leap" from person to person only after his job is fulfilled.

But that really depends of if they'd count that idea as the same guy, or a new guy with the spirit of The Undertaker influencing him, thus naming him Undertaker 2 (kinda like Tiger Mask in japan, there having been at least 4 last I checked)

I hope it's sooner than that. The minimum of stylized gimmicks is one of the biggest factors keeping me from really enjoying the current WWE product.

Bill S. Preston, Esq. VINTAGE D-DAY DAVE! Always cranking dat thing.
Yup, Palmer Cannon brought him to TLo and Smackdown as the actor who played him was a little to good at method acting and couldn't snap out it.
I think that lasted for about two weeks or so. After that, his backstory was never mentioned again and he was kinda portrayed as this supernatural character from then on. At least that's how I remember it, it's been a while since he was around...
