The guy had the "it" look and THE "it" gimmick to be a main eventer. I thought he was gonna be huge after seeing these promos and always wanted him to succeed since seeing him in WCW. I think the "Devil's advocate" gimmick would work in the PG environment as it is similar to CM Punk's heel gimmick. I know he was in MMA for awhile after the E fired him but where is he now? Wasted oppurtunity on WWE's part.

Well.. dude's like 40 years old now. And he's been charged with assaulting women a few times over the last few years too.
What a loser.

He also couldn't give a live promo worth a damn and kinda sucked in the ring. He had an awesome gimmick, but it should have been given to someone worthwhile.

Wasn't it that he kept cracking up? In that case maybe with a different gimmick, one he could keep a straight face for, it would have been better.
But yeah, the guy's wasted his life the last 8 years.

From the interviews I've seen from him, I sorta doubt it.
He didn't care for the politics and more or less viewed it as a job.

Those promos have to be some of the most over praised and over hyped things ever. They aren't THAT good. (to me anyway of course)
And yeah, he's fat and old now and is an awful human being. Plus he sucked at live promos and was a one trick pony in the ring.
Dude sucked back then and would suck even worse now.

Sean O'Haire was great when he debuted in WCW...he had a legit badass look and a good finisher in the Seanton bomb. I think WCW underused him, WWE had a lot of talented guys during O'Haire's time in the company.I liked his association with Roddy Piper and thought that the WWE had big plans for him as he was going to feud with Hulk Hogan.

He was greener than grass in WCW though. He wasn't underused at all, as being hidden in the Natural Born Thrillers was probably what was best for him. He won the tag titles a couple times, couldn't talk to save his life, and had about 3 moves total.

Yeah he couldnt cut live promos, sucked in the ring, and had attitude problems. Most overhyped guy by the iwc.

the Devil's Advocate gimmick WOULD NOT work for a wrestler. It only has two options. He successful manipulates someone and they look like a fool, he fails and he looks like a fool. The nature of the gimmick was simply to transparent.

Why was Piper put with him anyways? Seemed a bit odd to me.
His music and ring attire didn't really fit in with the type of promo's he was doing.

Guy is a certified asshole who gets remembered around here way too fondly.
I was a big fan of the guy in 2003, and actually came face-to-face with him outside of MSG, before they did a Smackdown! taping there in June of that year. I'm really respectful of the guys, and asked him really nicely about an autograph...the guy looked me right in the eye and just goes "No." Which is sorta not cool, but whatever, I understand.
So my older brother goes up to him, and also a fan of the guy, just asks to shake his hand. Nothing more since he was a fan of his dating back to WCW. Guy flat out refused and goes "I don't shake hands with fans."
Then a KID comes up to him..maybe 7 or so, and O'Haire doesn't even respond to the kid's request for an autograph, and just keeps walking with his girlfriend pretty much ignoring everybody.
Needless to say, I don't wish harm upon people...but when Piper got released like the next day, and O'Haire got relegated to Velocity and released thereafter, I didn't feel an iota bad for the guy. Nor do I think that should have been pushed, brought back or anything. He's a scumbag, as evidenced by his recent charges.
Let's face it...he had awesome introductory promos, but he couldn't translate it into the live medium at all. His in-ring persona had nothing to do with Devil's Advocate character, and it was pretty much dropped to be Piper's protege. Which didn't get anywhere.

The Devil's Advocate gimmick would have gotten over huge, but for some reason the WWE decided to turn him into Roddy Piper's bitch, and it was all down hill from there.

This. Sean O'haire was at his best in his WCW days with Mark Jindrak. Both guys where 6'6 high flyers, which you don't really see very often. I'll go as far and say he deserved a Goldberg push at that time, and I would have believed in it. In the WWE though, there was way too many wrestlers and he just got lost in the shuffle.

He wasn't a wasted opportunity though. He kept getting into bar fights and other sorts of trouble. It's the same thing with the Pope: everyone always says what a wasted opportunity he was when he apparently was a hassle for backstage people. I don't care how talented you are, if you aren't worth the trouble, you're not going to get pushed. Orton's like the only example of a trouble maker getting pushed to the moon and even his behavior tapered off over the years.
