Cena, thereby having his push ruined forever? Yeah, me neither.

I think most any other wrestler of his position on the card at the time would have fallen flat on their face, soon to be endeavored after the results of that Cena feud. Miz managed to turn it into something awesome. Pun totally intended.

People made a big fuss at the time, but really, after he came back with the trunks and new spin, most fans probably cared a lot less than we did. Overall, it's hard to argue it set him back much. If anything, he's probably in a better position now than he was before the feud.

I firmly believe that Miz would have been a cemented main event heel before this point had he not been made to look like a fool by Cena in their "feud" earlier this year. Sure, he seems destined for greatness in spite of it, but things would've gone much more smoothly had he been made to look like Cena's equal, or at least not a jobber in their first match. Yeah, they tried to redeem themselves with the second one, but you know that whole thing about first impressions...

Yeah, they tried to redeem themselves with the second one, but you know that whole thing about first impressions... That was his first foray into main eventing, though, outside of the DX feud. I know he was made to look like he bit off more than he could chew, but many main eventers end up doing that before they go further. -Rock got annihilated against Bret Hart -Triple H was infamously destroyed by Warrior -Cena got chewed up by Kurt Angle, Undertaker, and Brock before finally getting wins over top guys -CM Punk lost to Hardcore Holly. Bad example. I think you guys get the idea, though. He didn't look ideal, I'll admit, but it wasn't atrocious or anything. For a lower card guy, even FIGHTING the main eventer is a push of sorts. The "firing" was stupid, but it lasted all of like a week anyway.

Even if it meant he ate the pin.

I think they went too far when they had John tell him he didn't belong in the WWE and then acted like he was only annoyed with the Miz's moves. ![](http://i44.tinypic.com/fpcwg3.gif) It does kind of make sense now when he talks about proving everybody wrong, though.

Also if remember right he was pretty much much squash on PPV, but on RAW that next night or the week after he and Cena had a real good 10/12 minute match or something where Miz looked good despite losing again.

Also worth pointing out that, if Miz became a world champion and a big star for them, he wouldn't be the first guy to get a kicking on his first attempt at big-time glory either.

The biggest thing that NOBODY mentions about the rematch was how the announce team talked over and over about how the Miz learned from his loss the night before.
