NOW I remember why I hated Rey Mysterio's last title run so much. At the time in 2006, I didn't really mind him (where as now it's a different story) but I HATED the fact that they started calling the title "The World Championship" insinuating that just because a smaller guy won it, it somehow is magically not a Heavyweight title any more. I thought that was just so stupid.
And here we are again. They made it quite clear last night that the belt is once again "The World Championship" and not the World Heavyweight Championship.
You already put the guy over every f***ing "heavyweight" you have anyway, is it really going to devalue the belt to have a 150 pound wrestler holding a "Heavyweight" title? No.
So stupid.
Pretty much the second the belt went into Booker's hands, I think it became the World Heavyweight title again.

Are you really surprised by this? Come on, it's WWE. This is like something they have come to be known for in the past 6 years or so. It's just like how they can claim HHH is a 12 time champion or whatever, even though one of his reigns was like 2 hours long. Or a better example is "Kane: former WWE champion". Gimme a break.
I pointed this out before in 2006 on this board when Rey was champ, and somebody was all like, "Oh it doesn't matter what weight class he is, he can still have the world heavyweight belt."

I usually don't let things like this bug me, but this did.

Doesn't bother me. Weight classes have no place in a fake sport.

I always think that the 'Heavyweight' part of the title is pretty pointless nowadays. I mean, there's no cruiserweight division anymore, so Rey IS a heavyweight by default. Anyway, even if the cruser/lightweight division was still around, I think that only the top limit of the weight-class would be enforced anyway.

I still say they should abandon the US and IC titles, and form them into the WWE Light Heavyweight and the World Light Heavyweight championships.
Have them as top tier titles. Have the likes of CM Punk, Evan Bourne, Cody Rhodes etc feuding for them. Keep the original titles for the likes of Big Show, HHH, Sheamus, Cena etc.

I always felt that the 'Heavyweight' part was the least important part of the name and title itself. As they view the WWE Championship on the same level the title also should have Heavyweight somwhere in there, as it shows no weightclass or boundary. Either way I feel that no matter what weight size you are the main thing that should be taken from holding the title(s) should be that your the top dog in the industry at the moment (even though i despise the shell of the old rey who is holding the title right now)

I think it's stupid to change it to the "World Championship" when Rey has the title even though they didn't do the same for Jeff Hardy or CM Punk had the title, since they aren't technically heavyweights.

Mysterio's whole first world heavyweight title run was awful and it wasn't his fault. It was all on creative having him lose like every match as the top guy.

True, lol. Just when I think of Light HW or Cruiserweight in wrestling I think of either high flyers or a very technical style. It's more style than weight class. I think TNA had the right idea with the X-Division title. You know, on second thought, another weight class would be cool. As long as they keep the IC strap. And elevate the LHW/CW to a good level. A la not give it to a retarded leprechaun.

Yeah it does bother me, a lot. The fact that one guy holding a belt causes it to change it's name. It's dumb and it doesn't make any sense.

Like thats going to happen! Seriously, how long did they have the Light Heavyweight belt and they obviously had no clue what to do with it. Between trying to build the division around TAKA and trying to build the division around Essa Rios... Duane Gill held the belt for nearly a year, and he wasn't even with the company at the time, and it wasn't even noticed.
