You know, on second thought, another weight class would be cool. As long as they keep the IC strap. And elevate the LHW/CW to a good level. A la not give it to a retarded leprechaun. Like thats going to happen! Seriously, how long did they have the Light Heavyweight belt and they obviously had no clue what to do with it. Between trying to build the division around TAKA and trying to build the division around Essa Rios... Duane Gill held the belt for nearly a year, and he wasn't even with the company at the time, and it wasn't even noticed. Because they had a belt with more prestige (IC) so why build something up when you have something already built. Personally i think they should just get rid of the weight classification because anybody can challenge for the title. It's either you have a World title, IC title or you have a World heavyweight title, World lightweight title. Hell i'd soon enough put the World heavyweight title and the Tag Team World Heavyweight titles on Raw and put the lightweights on Smackdown. But that's just me. Also it doesn't bother me.

Are you really surprised by this? Come on, it's WWE. This is like something they have come to be known for in the past 6 years or so. It's just like how they can claim HHH is a 12 time champion or whatever, even though one of his reigns was like 2 hours long. Or a better example is "Kane: former WWE champion". Gimme a break. I pointed this out before in 2006 on this board when Rey was champ, and somebody was all like, "Oh it doesn't matter what weight class he is, he can still have the world heavyweight belt." What's ridiculous about giving HHH and Kane credit for their short title reigns? Should they not count because they were short all of a sudden?

The term "Heavyweight" is a product of it's times. It doesn't really apply anymore to current WWE.

In the WWE Universe, if a 175 lb guy is good enough to beat the Heavyweights for the title, why cant he be the Heavyweight Champ?

All active WWE championships are openweight belts, so there shouldn't be any need to delineate weight classes. I think the only reason they keep 'Heavyweight' in the name is because it makes the belt sound more prestigious and indirectly connects it to the WCW and NWA Championships.

How long a person has held a title has never meant anything in wrestling either in WWE,ECW,WCW,TNA or whereever I know, it just feels lame and cheap to me.

As soon as I heard Rey won, I knew the word Heavyweight would be taking another vacation.

I don't get why they don't call it the World Heavyweight Championship. I mean, to most of Rey Mysterio's fans, 150 pounds is downright OBESE.

Okay, that's just stupid.
Now, weight classes don't really make much sense in pro wrestling, but you remove a certain aspect of the title's name for a specific wrestler is a pain.

It WOULD be cool but they'll just f*** it up. Oh, and thanks for the history lesson. I was living under a rock for the past 15 years.

Weight Limits is what turns me off on UFC. Sure theres guys that can jump between wieghts, but when I found out most of the main guys were fighting over the lower wieght belts before Lesnar, I was annoyed. Heavywieght still means the best to a lot of people and including me, I want to see Lesnar face someone much lighter then him, makes for a more interesting fight. I miss the old UFC days where a sumo guy would be taken down by a ex cop half his size.
