www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa41teXD8GkSays Davey Richards would whoop his ass and Hunter can't hang with him. That true? Personally, I bet HHH and Richards could have phenomenal matches.

Can't hang with him....in a pre-determined match. Who cares?
I think Trips would be the one to carry Davey to a match that actually involves psychology and not just move move move move.

*In before this turns to cliche cornettte and/or HHH bashing thread*
Today in an ROH ring? no, I don't think Triple H can could handle the work load. However I could have seen them having great matches if this was the H of 5 or 6 years ago that was having great matches with Benoit and HBK.

Well, that'd give ROH some mainstream relevance.
Cornette is a goof.

HHH in 2000 vs. Davey Richards now would've been a hell of a brawl.

Triple H is beyond ROH at this point.

Yeah, before that last quad tear I think he could not only hang with guys like Davey and Bryan but, possibly lead them to a better match than they could have than with anyone else on the ROH roster.

HHH in 2000 vs. Davey Richards now would've been a hell of a brawl. Dear God, yes. And before we start picking sides, I'll put it like this. - Richards would obviously prove superior in stamina & conditioning due to his youth and style. - HHH would add a great influx of psychology into the match between the two men.

Considering Davey's trained/training in Jiu-jitsu, yeah he probably could beat the shit out of Triple H.

Ah yes, the psychology Trips would bring to the match... If Trips if booked to win: Gets pounded by Davey for 10-15-however many minutes, then no-sells it all, Pedigree, three-count. If Davey is booked to win: Trips springs up like a jack-in-the-box after the three count grinning, or begins theatrical moans of agony. (No, I don't entirely agree with what I said above, but it had to be done. ) But yeah, this is kind of a pointless argument in a "fight" where the outcome is pre-arranged. It's probably true that HHH couldn't keep up with younger indy guys in terms of athleticism/conditioning. Fade's post is a good summary.

Triple H has been in some of the most exciting long haul matches in WWE. The guy was the technical talent, he was far superior in terms of ring leadership than anyone else in the Attitude era.

I love how overrated HHH's psychology and story-teling abilities are. Just because the guy tries to be like Harley Race and Flair doesn't mean he's a wizard out there. He hasn't set the ring on fire since 2003.

Davey could win a match against HHH. All he has to do is announce he's retiring at the beginning of the match, HHH leaves, and Davey changes his mind a week later, and HHH loses via countout. ;D

He hasn't set the ring on fire since 2003. And I love how overrated a wrestler can be if he "actually" knows martial arts or some form of actual grappling arts. This isn't an actual competition of any sort, and as grown adults, there's no reason to treat this as such. So yeah, Triple H is going to be highly regarded, because he's one of the biggest stars in the biggest wrestling organization on the planet. And honestly, I haven't cared enough to see/look up who Davey Richards is, but judging from this thread, he's clearly overrated.

HHH would get killed...end of story
Richards is a trained Martial Artist, HHH is a sports entertainer.

I like Davey but I haven't seen a match from him where it isn't spot to spot to spot. He's a great midcard guy to pop the crowd but I don't see the "GREATEST WRESTLER TODAY" thing that everyone has been harking on about lately. HHH would get killed...end of story Richards is a trained Martial Artist, HHH is a sports entertainer. Are we talking about a match here or just a fight in the street? I don't see how that plays into anything at all. I don't even think Richards is a trained martial artist. Kicks in the ring don't equal karate king, His kimura should look also look a lot better if he's so good at teh martial artz.

This is hilarious. I guess if Cornette is booking then Richards would probably kick HHH's ass. If Steph is booking, I'm thinking Richards is likely looking at the lights.
Here's the litmus test for guys in ROH when it comes to them winning the ROH belt: Would this guy even be IC or US level in WWE? If yes, consider putting the belt on him. If no, then don't put the belt on him.
