So I dug out my Hell in a Cell DVD set and started watching the first one with Taker & HBK. During Taker's entrance, like half the arena whipped out lighters for a really cool visual.
Would this kind of thing be allowed these days? I'll even take cellphones since whipping out a bunch of lighters is dangerous and whatnot.

Nah. I wouldn't risk it. You know what Kane's entrance does around fire. Might turn out nasty for those in possession.

Havent you ever been to a concert where people raise their lighters during the slow/epic song? Its not against the law to do. Its hardly dangerous unlike if they were using candles or something like that. The last time I saw Undertaker some people did it and this was like a year ago, but only a few did.

Yeah, this was just one of the those things that the fans largely forgot about when Taker returned to the Deadman gimmick in 2004. Has nothing to do with smoking laws as simply lighting a lighter on its own is not illegal.

Actually, I've seen quite a few people hold their cell phones in the air when Undertaker comes out.

It used to be common during almost every Undertaker entrance for people to hold up their lighters.

Actually, I've seen quite a few people hold their cell phones in the air when Undertaker comes out. recording vids is a strong possibility, rather than going for a "our cellphones look cool" effect

A few years ago I was at a house show and someone a few rows behind me threw a full soda at my hand for holding up my lighter during Takers entrance. I really wanted to go up there and kick the guys ass but luckily my exgirlfriend talked some sense into me.

God, I loved when the crowd did that. Epic visual.

Maybe there are fewer smokers in the audience these days, due to the family/kid oriented vibe compared to however long ago.
