Last night's WWE NXT show on Syfy scored a 0.8 rating (rounded up) and averaged just over one million viewers.
The show set another all-time low for the NXT series. NXT was down 5.7 percent from last week's 1.07 million viewers, which was the previous all-time low.
Since the debut on February 23 with 1.70 million viewers, NXT has lost 41 percent of viewers with this week's TV viewership. The following is a break down of the show through Week 11 last night.
Week 1 - 1.70 million viewers Week 2 - 1.73 million viewers (up 1.8%) Week 3 - 1.30 million viewers (down 24.9%) Week 4 - 1.16 million viewers (down 10.6%) Week 5 - 1.08 million viewers (down 7.1%) Week 6 - 1.30 million viewers (up 20.6%) Week 7 - 1.22 million viewers (down 6.5%) Week 8 - 1.28 million viewers (up 5.3%) Week 9 - 1.21 million viewers (down 5.6%) Week 10 - 1.07 million viewers (down 11.7%) Week 11 - 1.01 million viewers (down 5.7%)

That's still 10 times more viewers than Sci-Fi gets on its other shows combined...

I was thinking of writing a big post about this, like, a new thread, but I'll talk about it here.
The reason NXT is failing is simple. The wrestlers on the show are simply not good enough to face the real WWE stars, and therefore, nobody wants to see them. On Raw, I noticed that on the commentary, where Michael Cole was talking about how they're just rookies (and I'm not talking about his usual heeling on Daniel Bryan). But, they're seen as not good enough, so why watch.
The same thing happened with ECW. When the ECW stars were seen as equals to Raw and Smackdown, they did good ratings. But, when guys who weren't ready to be World Champions got the ECW Title (starting with Lashley, though he did have World Champion potential), the ratings started to fall (along with, of course, the show becoming less and less like what people wanted out of ECW).
I think it's an interesting concept, but it's doomed to fail with many casual fans, because these guys aren't good enough. My fear is that's what's going to happen to Smackdown now that Jack Swagger is World Champion. He gets great heat, but he doesn't have the heat CM Punk has, or Chris Jericho had when he was on Smackdown. I know they're kinda doing a Honky Tonk Man type deal with him, and he's getting good heat, but I think it hurts the World Title and Smackdown with a guy like Swagger as Champion.
The challenges don't help either. People are tuning in to watch wrestling, not American Gladiators.

WWE deserves this after jobbing out Danielson again and making him the only winless wrestler on the show.

It will probably still be the lead-in for the WWE, but if NXT can't retain the audience, it's going to make the ratings look even worse.

Got to wonder if NXT will even get a second 'season' after this one finishes up.

Good. At this point, I hope its ratings fall so low that when October comes not even CMT and its "we're happy with CCW getting .3's!" will touch it.

Does this show really matter though to WWE? I mean it hardly costs anything to produce, the wrestlers don't have there own touring schedule, so any money and viewers made from it are just bonuses, it's a show to get some younger guys who are already under contract some exposure before they're called up, it's all bonus for WWE, it's not like these wrestlers are needed to draw ratings, PPVs and live attendance yet, but it's going to help them when they go to Raw or Smackdown, WWE should be happy that there C (or possibly D considering Superstars is full of known names) even gets 1 million viewers since it's all just gravy to there huge company.

Started off as a decent show, but has just devolved into Double Dare 2010. I have no more interest in it.

Bryan Danielson is not bland. Daniel Bryan is. I'm a huge fan of his and WWE has almost made me stop caring completely. NXT doesn't even deserve a rating this high.
