For a non console launch.
On October 26th we're gonna get blitzed with 4 major franchises all hitting the shelves at the same time.
Rock Band 3 Fable 3 Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011
Now think about that, thats all in the same day, I believe Fallout: New Vegas was originally gonna come out on 10/26 as well, but its been pushed up one week. Tony Hawk: Shred comes out that same day too, but I really doubt too many people are looking forward to that one, but if you wanna count it as a fifth, then be my guest
Now the week before is a pretty big too, but unless I don't pay very much attention, I haven't seen this many high profile game launches in the same day.
What do you guys think?

The console version of Sims 3 is also being released and that might be a good seller.
Also, Back to the Future Blu-Ray Trilogy and Alien Anthology Blu-Ray collection is also coming out on Oct. 26.
I'm going to be broke.

I might get 2011, but nothing else is exactly wowing me.

No, not really. Because, thanks to the music genre starting to be on the down turn, you can't really call any music game a major franchise. And the WWE games have questionable quality as well. So really it is just Star Wars and Fable 3 that are the truly big releases that day.

So really it is just Star Wars and Fable 3 that are the truly big releases that day. The WWE games do have very questionable quality, but they sell, and sell well. Rock Band may have seem to have fallen somewhat, but the fact that they aren't releasing a huge band bundle for it works in its favor, it has the standalone game, and the keyboard bundle. Rock Band still has a big fanbase, so it'll sell fine. All 4 of these games have their fanbases, and you'll have all 4 of these fanbases in stores at the same time.

For me, it has to have a lot of quality games, and Rock Band and WWE are iffy, so that day only has two quality games being released in my mind. Thus, it isn't any bigger than any other fall release week.

Hell the 19th is arguably a bigger day, looking at the games being released on that day. Better looking stuff in my mind.
EDIT: Scratch that, November 2nd is probably the biggest release day of the year.

mmm, not really
Rock Band no longer has the impact that had one year ago, to this day, is just like SVR or Maddens where they release one every single year, and you just dont care that much, the same could be said about SvR
SW FU 2 is not that impressive for me, I loved the history which is amazing an put an interesting twist in the whole Star Wars Saga, but gameplay wise, the game is nothing to write home about, it's just ''meh'' at best
And fable III, well, is PETER MOLYNEUX, Fable 2 was one of the best games that I had played in the Xbox 360, but the problem is, that I can tell you like one hundred of errors that made that game very forgetable, the game is good, but nothing that screams ZOMG
So yeah, the 4 are very good games, but none of them will ever make a ''biggest day in the gaming history'', hell, it will not even be the biggest day in this year, Starcraft II, Halo Reach or Galaxy 2 were bigger days

Well they are putting out a PS2 version of SvR2011. That has to mean something.

However, I would like to point out that just cause a series has a yearly release doesn't make it a BAD series, IE, look at the Call of Duty series, yearly release since CoD2 came out and aside from CoD3, all the games have been pretty damn good. You can pull off a yearly release, you just need to make the games GOOD. Most yearly releases don't do this though.

I think they realized that Activision and the GH franchise have damn near killed that one. I still expect it to be a decent seller tho.

Oh, without a doubt it'll easily make back its development costs. As Michael Pachter has said numerous times, for the average 360/PS3 game, which usually has a production cost of $20 million, to break even, it needs to sell only 1 million copies. To profit at least 2 million. I can easily see RB3 selling between 2 and 3 million.

I don't wanted to say that, SvR, FIFA, and other annual games are very good and I love them, hell, I'm a KOF fan, SNK/ SNKP have released one every single year since 1994 to this day without failing and I like a lot of those releases
My point is, that annual games will not create any impact at this rate because they no longer fell special, they are just releases that you're waiting to happen every year
And well, CoD was not the best example, since IW always rotate with other company when they release the games, at least I always had the feeling that hardcore took the IW games (CoD2, and the two MW) as the main series, with the other games as spin offs
But well, I don't care, CoD is a series that I hate, all of them are good games, but the only one that I really love is CoD 2, I had a problem with the modern warfare series because it represents everything that I hate about the Actual Industry, I know that NorthAmericans almost always make very good games, but COD makes me hate some Northamerican games because they feel the same once everybody is copying you, I don't had the same feeling with Halo though, I don't know why, actually, the only NA company that I really hate is Activision, the rest I love them almost all
And about RB3, well, we had to think that the perophericals now are sold, they only need to sale the keyboard and the game, and that will be more easy, since they had sold a lot of bundles between the first 2 RB and the beatles one, at least I think that they will be okay

Much as I am hyped for Force 2, since the first game was kind of rock it might more a grower than a show-er.

Eh, the only game there that trips my trigger is Rock Band 3, if only because it ought to make RB2 cheaper and I can finally get the whole band set. I know i'll be late to the party but as long as the new DLC works i'll live (the song list for RB3 isn't doing it for me).
Only days left i'm psyched for this year are October 5th (NBA Jam), November 2nd (Gran Turismo 5), and November 9th (CoD; Black Ops).

For me, it is 10/05 for NBA Jam, 11/9 for Black Ops, and 11/16 for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, really.

I think 11/9 is going to be huge, just for Black Ops and the rumored release date for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World on DVD/Blu. I'm going to be broke that day, trust me.

Only if WoW: Cataclysm is released on that day as well. You never know, that's the first Tuesday after BlizzCon... maybe it will. But I'm betting on just before Thanksgiving for Cataclysm. The most prominent rumor on Cata's release date is November 2nd, which has been propagated by some of the major blogs, and originally stated at mmo-champion. Although, Blizzard keeps saying "Midnight the first Tuesday after it's done". I don't have beta access, but from what I'm hearing... 6 weeks isn't going to be long enough for it to be done.
