Back in early 2001 ECW went out of business and WCW was almost done. The newsletters from that time told us how Rhino,,justin credible etc were all WWE bound...and that all the WCW guys DDP,Kanyon, booker T could be heading there also...
This was an exiting time to be a wrestling fan...so many potential cross-promotion feuds could take place but thanks to de-pushes and burials..many never happened!
With the odd exeption of RVD and booker...most were either buried or pushed waaay down the roster!
I remember thinking how we'd get to see DDP in a main event..maybe against stone cold...diamond cutter vs stunner...how he got buried so badly is beyond me! I also thought rhino would be a main event threat before he debuted
And before the alliance we had tazz and raven enter the WWE...i remember having high hopes for tazz...sure he was short but with the right booking he could seem a threat!
Which WCW/ECW guys did you see as being really big in the wwe...possibly main eventing?

I thought Sean O'Haire was gonna be huge. Perfect look for WWE and massive potential.

I thought Raven would've been a lot bigger in WWE than he ended up being. Maybe it was because he was in the right place in the wrong time, but I think he had it all. Distinct look, wrestling ability, charisma, brilliant on the stick, excellent sense of ring psychology, etc. I think if he came to the WWF in 1998 he might've had at least one world title reign.
A lot of the WCW guys I didn't really see being too big a deal because they were either A. fairly old and past their prime or B. young, stuck with generic gimmicks, and completely unmemorable in every way. Though I blame this more on the way WCW handled its younger talent, especially from 1999 on, than WWE's botching of the Invasion Angle. Of course, it didn't help that very few of the BIG WCW stars came onboard with the Invasion (Booker T and DDP are really the only big names I can think of), due to the way WCW and Time Warner handled conctracts with the bigger stars like Flair, Hogan, Nash, Hall, Steiner, etc.

Out of ECW, I thought RVD and Lance Storm would be guys who would have the best careers in the big leagues. I guess I was wrong about Lance Storm.
In WCW, I always thought Mortis/Kanyon would go on to bigger things, but I guess I was wrong about that too.

I think O'Haire will be the most consistent. Jindrak and Palumbo have to be up there.
Mike Awesome was another one that had a lot of potential
I always liked Reno but he was pretty small

i actucally thought buff bagwell would've gotten a IC title reigh...maybe after being repackaged a little!
I also Seem to remember about all the rumblings about who would win between tazz and austin...id have thought they would've got some sort of feud!
That brings me to another point..it seems alot of the guys who had potential main event calibre lost steam because when the fans wanted guys like raven/DDP in the main event..they were given midcard feuds and wortless belts which killed their momentum!
However when scott steiner debuted they put him straight into the title picture against HHH..sure that failed because of his health but what if rhino/tazz/DDP got that same treatment...straight into the main event scene and treated as if they were threats...things could've been diffrent

Sean O'Haire would be my immediate thought. The dude should have been so much bigger than he was. I'd argue the same case for Jindrak, but he didn't have as much of a personality, so it's hard to say whether he would have been huge or not.

This may sound odd...But I always thought it would be Disco Inferno. Yeah he's a weirdo...but he had good charisma, and I thought he worked his gimmick really well.

Disco was one guy who should have NEVER been a threat or NEVER gotten over, but.... he was so great and so obnoxious that he worked. I'd like to see a Disco/Dreamer feud actually. Long lost brothers?

He was the first Alliance member to win a WWF title, and may have even done it in his debut. From what I've heard, and this is strictly a rumor that, as far as I know, doesn't have much evidence behind it, but Undertaker wasn't a fan of his, and that cost Awesome a push. The rumor involved Undertaker not liking another athletic big man in the company, and was afraid of losing his spot.

I can't say for certain, obviously, but I highly doubt, at that point, that 'Taker was afraid of losing his spot. Yeah, at the time, Awesome was arguably the more athletic big man, but Undertaker was still The Undertaker, and in WWE, that means he wasn't going anywhere. I have heard that 'Taker wasn't a fan of his, though, although I didn't hear the "losing his spot" bit.

2 Cold Scorpio.
Although according to Mick Foley and The Sandman, he was pretty damn big anyway.

I thought WWE would be all over Hugh Morrus. He was a hoss that could fly. Same with Mike Awesome. I was really wrong on Hugh though, which was a shame because despite his terrible gimmick, I liked his WCW U.S. title reign.

I actaully also thought meng/haku would do better than he did...obviously not main event but he seemed a preety decent brawler in wcw...when he arrived in wwe i thought he'd at least get a hardcore title reign!
