Regarding the Cosmic/Galactic Avengers.........I just hope the X-Jammers are involved in it somewhere. Havok finally had a change to shine......and then Vulcan has to die because they decide to bring Thanos back. Havok appearing in this new cosmic stuff would be the icing on the cake for me; I've liked that character since his Mutant X days, and have always seen him as the cooler and more interesting Summers brother.

Well, he, Lorna, Rachel and some Shiar guy who had a sword made of Phoenix Force all went off looking for the Phoenix Force when it abandoned Rachel and sword guy.
Being that the Force just showed up at the end of Second Coming, and Hope seems to have it now on some level, I should expect them on Earth soon........
That or they were written out of cosmic stuff because of the Phoenix Force stuff, and then the X-Writing teams forgot about them.

Well, folks, I just stumbled across something awesome. You may remember WAY back I posted a blog from 4thletter! in which they took Ultimates 3 and re-dubbed the dialogue with HILARIOUS results. And a follow-up where they re-dubbed Ultimatum with even more hilarious results. Well, the comedy gold continues as 4thletter! presents to you the new and improved....NEW ULTIMATES #1!!! www.4thletter.net/2010/03/new-ultimate-edit-week-1-day-one/

So what exactly is the problem with Greg Land?
His arts pretty sharp and unlike whoever the artist that follows Loeb around I can tell what's going on

Land doesnt draw, he traces. Most of his stuff is copied from porn.

and he never draws people's actions properly. they will always look like they're doing something other than what they are, and their facial expressions almost never match what their emotions should be. also, people stand around in poses. nothing he draws looks natural. also, as said before, he traces. he's lucky nobody cares about his shitty artwork or Marvel would get their asses sued due to likeness rights violations.

A lot of artists use picture references in their work but they usually hide it pretty well (or at least try to somewhat). Land doesn't and it makes him come off like a hack. He's even copied himself.
I hate it when artists use picture references and it doesn't match what's going on.
But to be fair, Land isn't the only one who rips off porn for his work. A lot of the Image guys did this back in the 90s.
And with a program like Poser, they don't need to do this.
Edit: What's funny is when an artist uses the references, but completely screws it up. I remember one Star Trek mini-series (TNG) where the artist used shuttlecraft references from the original series (the 1960s look and everything).

So I'm been slowly trying to get myself back into comics, and I picked up All Star Superman Vol. 2, and it was well worth it. Frank Quitely's detail is for the most part good, but I can't help but notice that the crevices in his faces make Superman look like's he's crumbling on occasion. The writing is awesome, though.
Also, more underground comic-related, a friend loaned me their copy of a Peter Bagge collection ("Buddy Does Seattle"), and I was torn. On one hand, I loved the cartoony art style, but Buddy as a protagonist was just too whiny and irritating for me to fully enjoy it.

It's quite good and Bagge is pretty awesome stuff but with a "realistic" flair. Buddy does come off as a jerk a lot of the time. His family isn't a prize either.

Just bumpin'
But as I do that I'll tell you about the comic books I got this week. - Brightest Day #5 featuring Aqua Man, Dead Man, Hawk Man and Hawk Girl. What! No Firestorm! I'm kinda disappointed for solely myself because I'm a longtime Firestorm fan. I still think the series is too 'busy". A historic character might have died in this issue(minor ambigious spoiler) - R.E.B.E.L.S #18 featuring the screwed up Brainiac family, Captain Comet and StarFire/Koriand'r. I thought this was excellent and I've decided I'm going to follow this title. StarFire is super sexy in this one. The Brainiacs are all getting ready to fight. I expect a battle to shake worlds next issue. I wish I picked this title up sooner now. I like it alot.
out of the loose pile: New Teen Titans #35(Sept. 1987) Raven does good here and saves the day in the end. Tales To Astonish Vol 2 #2 (Jan. 1979) The Submariner fights Triton of the Inhumans. The Thing #33 (March 1985) This comic book has a pro-wrestling themed storyline and The Thing gets beat up by a whole group of super powered women rasslers.
Tried to make the best of a bump.
