Motley Crue. I just don't "get" most of Tool's stuff.

Tool actually puts out good albums. Harder? I don't know, but Tool has better musicianship by far.

Apples and oranges in a sense. I'm a bigger fan of Tool but I don't think they "rock" very hard whatsoever. Motley Crue gets my vote here due to that.

Crue rocks harder in a motocycle kinda way and Tool rocks harder in a sophistication tribal kinda way.
I think motorcycles rock harder than sophistication tribal, so even though I don't really listen to or like Crue, I have to say Crue rocks harder.
I voted before I thought about so please strike my vote for Tool from the record.

I'm still somewhat confused by this.
It's like asking: Smarter Band - Talking Heads or GWAR? They're both really genius, just in different ways.

You can't even compare the two really.... Yeah, this is a pretty bizarre comparison. I'd have to pick Tool by a longshot though. They're incredible. I don't really like Crue at all.

Iunno. I do know that I prefer Tool, but I don't dislike Motley Crue by any means. But neither of them is anywhere near my top 10 favorite bands or anything.

I like Tool better musically, even though I think Maynard is one giant, massive pretentious douchebag. That being said, I would say Crue "rocks" better, although they've had some epically lousier songs (Without You is one of the biggest piles of crap I've ever heard).
And there are some songs of Tools that rock pretty well, mostly earlier stuff. Most of the stuff from Opiate rocks (Sweat being a particular favorite of mine).

How is this even close? Crue should be slaughtering Tool.

How is this even close? Crue should be slaughtering Tool. My guess? There aren't a lot of true-blue Crue fans left that also use the internet.

How is this even close? Crue should be slaughtering Tool. To each their own, man. Motley Crue has like...two or three songs I like. I can't think of a Tool song I dislike.
