I know the series is over..and im late on posting this..lol ,but Im looking back on the episode of That 70s Show, Donna and Eric have been fighting a lot lately and Eric decided to get her a promise ring to makeup for all their bickering. Donna accepted it at first..but later had second thoughts and returned it. She believed she wasn't ready for that kind of responsibility, Eric got pissed and broke up with her.
Looking back, was he right to? She did sort of lead him on into believing she's happy with the ring, but on the other hand she did bring up a good point where if they were meant to be together then they would be together.
Eric right to break things off?...Or is he just a dumbass?

I don't think i fully by into this "we're destined to be together" stuff. In some case, MAYBE, but not all. So yea, I didn't watch the show, but I can see his point. If her really followed his gut, then yea he did the right thing.
Of course, a lot of guys seemingly ignore their gut when they use their heart. Not a good idea.

Dumbass. You don't ditch an amazing girl like Donna over something so stupid. I'd have sold a kidney to be with someone as cool as her when I was in high school.

Both of them made some boneheaded choices between them throughout the series, though I think they (more or less) wrapped things up towards the end. I imagine it was '97 by that point in the timeline, I fell out of interest with the series by then.

They were teenagers so no it wasn't right for him to get upset over it. However I could see my former teenage self getting upset over it, so it makes sense.

On a side note, Donna was WAY WAY WAY hotter as a redhead.
Especially in her Catholic schoolgirl outfit.

The first break up was Donna's fault but what the hell was with dumping her from Africa? And her rebound guy! WTF!?

TV Breakups aren't the same as real breakups. Real breakups happen due to some fatal flaw in the relationship. TV Breakups happen because the mature phase of a romance, just isn't that interesting, and as anyone knows, history is about war by other means, about conflict. So they break-up the couple just to keep things interesting. It doesn't really matter, because Eric's actions were designed to lead up to a pre-destined event. So it doesn't really matter.
And Eric is a dumbass.

No. And Hyde was stupid for ruining things with Jackie. No! The Hyde/Jackie pairing was so irritating, I stopped watching the show until the last season. Hyde was too complicated and strong-willed for a spoiled little rich girl like Jackie.

That was the one time I sided with Eric.
Well, that and the time Donna accused him of cheating on her when she found a pair of panties in the Vista Cruiser...which turned out to be her mom's.
Damn, that show's best moments were all in the first season.

That's one of my all time favorites.

Hyde was too complicated and strong-willed for a spoiled little rich girl like Jackie. I thought it was cool how some of Hyde's "smartness" rubbed off on Jackie. She wasn't a complete idiot and self-centered as Kelso anymore, but she still maintained most of her spoiled bitch qualities. That was the one time I sided with Eric. Well, that and the time Donna accused him of cheating on her when she found a pair of panties in the Vista Cruiser...which turned out to be her mom's. That's one of my all time favorites. "Panties... GLORIOUS PANTIES!" *throws panties up in the air as he laughs maniacally* The episode where Eric accidentally runs over Donna's cat is "Kiss of Death" Season 2. And the first few seasons were definitely the best ones. I especially loved the "Garage Sale" episode where the parents (Red, Kitty, Bob and Midge) accidentally eat Hyde's "special" brownies. High Red was all kinds of awesome. "Hey! That's a Vista Cruiser! You could literally.. cruise the vistas." ;D
