Just thinking on the heels of one of the deadest Smackdown crowds in ages. Seems to be the consensus that the Northeast and Canada are almost always guaranteed to have hot crowds, but are there any areas notorious for having the complete opposite? Come to think of it, did they even say where Smackdown was from last week? They usually do it as the opening pyro was going off, but I don't remember seeing anything onscreen or hearing any mention on commentary.

I believe Smackdown was in Bloomington, Illinois. Yeah that crowd was deader than a crowd watching a Lacey Von Erich VS Al Snow TV match.

Anaheim crowds blow, see WrestleMania 12 and 16 for evidence.

The more passionate sports cities are the best, livliest crowds, which just makes sense if you think about it. Crowds in New York CARE, they get LOUD, because the Yankees, Mets, Knicks and Rangers etc. have gotten them that way, and because it's a big market for sports, it's also a big market for any live event because the crowds get really into it. Boston, Philly, Chicago - they're the same. It's the history of the city, really. Canada and England also follow this, with how passionate they are about their sports. Now, when you go to a city that just really doesn't care that much about sports because they've never really had anything to give a crap about, you can't expect them to have that mentality.

The crowd was dead for the "Armageddon" I went to in Fort Lauderdale...but was hot when I went to Raw a couple years later. What a difference.

I'm from Chicago and we're always a pretty hot crowd. I've heard many wrestlers say they like Chicago, but I've never heard any of them say they like Bloomington (not that I'm surprised or anything).

Chicago had a great crowd for Raw, they were pretty hot all night Wherever this weeks Smackdown was from, not so much. I'm glad they popped hard for Paul Bearer's return though.

It also depends on whether it's raw or smackdown. Here in portland Oregon, we are very passionate about wrestling. we used to have the famous portland wresrtlning with all the greats like Flair, Piper, Buddy Rose, Andre, and many many more. When Raw comes in to town tickets sell out or pretty close with in the first 2 weeks on sale. In the arena the crowd really gets in to it, Even when Smackdown comes to town. But when it aired on friday the crowd seemed so dead. I notice this while watching smackdown a lot. I think it may be because of different crews working both shows. You can really tell the difference between stars showing on RAW compared to SD

Anytime they do things in California, the crowd seems glazed over. Like if you walked up and spilled a drink on their heads, they wouldn't even look to see what happened.

LA always seems to sit on their hands throughout the show.

Anaheim crowds blow, see WrestleMania 12 and 16 for evidence. This. I went to a RAW at the Pond in 2001 that featured Shane McMahon v. The Rock, which was a good match and a decent card, but the crowd just seemed determined to bash The Rock no matter what happened. I was like "What is going on here?" and I was five rows from ringside. Wrestling crowds are funny sometimes.

The building itself may also have something to do with it. Some arenas are better designed to hold in the sound, so the crowd may seem louder or deader than others.

The UK always seems to be pretty hot for Raw and so dead for Smackdown that I'm not sure why most of them bought a ticket. The Nov '09 Smackdown was just horrible, so bad that I almost wished I'd gone to try and watch them shush me I've seen a few wrestlers say they like the crowds here, except Jericho who got pelted with DX glowsticks but you can't win 'em all, right?
