I thought this was kinda interesting. In today's WWE Magazine poll, WWE asked what was the favorite era (Attitude Era is the winner). Here are the WWE's eras:
Rock N' Wrestling: 1982-1990 The New Generation: 1991-1996 The Attitude Era: 1996-2001 The Postwar Era: 2001-2005 The Modern Era: 2005-Now
Not earth shattering or anything, but still interesting.

Postwar Era....as in post RAW is WAR? Creative. I think they meant Monday Night War. But it is more creative than they usually are.

Yeah, they've pretty much got it right, unless you count transistional periods.

Post-War era is a pretty cool name. Better than "Ruthless Agression" which seems to be the common name for it.
I wonder what the official name for the "modern era" will be, once it's no longer modern.

I wonder what they'll call the current era 10 years from now.
The PG era? Universe era?

I would extend the "Postwar Era" from 2001 to 2008 and then have the "Modern Era" start from there.
The change to PG introduced a "Modern era" more then anything in 2005.

Why the cutoff at 2005? The only thing I can think of is that it's Cena's first title reign. All the other transitional periods make sense:
1990: many big stars leave WWF, also the post-steroid scandal era 1996: nWo angle pushes WWF to change up their writing style 2001: WWF buys WCW 2005: ? (probably Cena's first reign)

Wrestlemania 21 is generally considered by some fans (myself included) to be the beginning of the current era, due to it marking the rise of Cena and Batista.

Honestly? I'd put the start of this era in June, 2007, unfortunately.

Rock N' Wrestling: 1982-1990 Hey yo, it's interesting how they're equating Vince's takeover with the beginning of the era, although I've always assumed that Rock N' Wrestling began with Hogan's arrival...or possibly the Iron Sheik beating Backlund for the WWF title...cool in a way.

I agree with an earlier poster that the modern era begins in 2005 due to Cena and Batista's rise to superstardom.

There is no way in hell the New Generation era started in 1990 or 1991. At the earliest, it started in late 1992, but didn't get solidify until RAW appeared on TV.

I'd revise it as.... Rock N' Wrestling/Federation Years: January 23, 1984 - April 5th, 1992 The New Generation: Late 1992 to Late 1997/Early 1998 The Attitude Era: March 29, 1998 to April 1st 2001 The Postwar Era: April 2nd 2001 to April 3, 2005 Modern Era: April 4th 2005 to now My favorite would be the Attitude Era.
