I thought she was kind of funny in some sketches. There was one where she plaid Newt Gingrich's mom that was pretty funny. But she didn't really like the show or the "boys club" or it. Of course she was replaced with Molly Shannon and the "woman's club" of SNL began in earnest. Really after doing the brilliant Ben Stiller Show and with a very weak season of SNL I could understand why she left.

Speaking of SNL, am i the only one who thinks the 75-80 eps are overrated? Dont get me wrong, i respect that cast and several sketches from that era are classics. However, i bought the first two seasons on dvd (havent got 3-5 yet), and theres a lot of dull sketches there. Thats true of every season, but it seems that its more disapointing, considering the cast. Personally, i see the "glory days" of snl to be 86-94. Carvey, Hartman, Lovitz, Farley, Spade, etc. I could watch eps from those 8 seasons every day, and even the duds are less of a chore to sit through.

I can see your point. The original cast season are kind of like Monty Python's Flying Circus. Everyone remembers The Dead Parrot Sketch and everyone remembers Bass o Matic but no one remembers the dozens of sketches on both shows that were poorly written and just bombed. But once the first cast members became stars and the show became established the crappy stuff was white washed.

I love some of the old stuff myself, like the Festrunk Brothers (aka The Wild and Crazy Guys), Samurai Futaba, Blues Brothers, Rosanne Rosannadanna, and pretty much anything that Bill Murray did, and I respect the hell out of them for "breaking the rules" at the time. But there was some really dull stuff that people tend to overlook because "it's the original cast so they're automatically forgiven". The cast of Myers, Farley, Hartman, Carvey, Spade, Lovitz, Rock, Sandler, McDonald, and rest were hands down my favorite cast ever. And the fact that Lorne was back and they had Conan as a writer made it even better. I also think they provided better characters/sketches/moments than the original cast.
