Which version of it was better? My friend at school today says that Iron Chef America was better. I don't agree.
Iron Chef Japan
Iron Chef America
Iron Chef Japan had it all. Drama, emotion, villains, and unlike ICA, there reputations and careers are on the line. ICA is slow, brief, and not the same whatsoever.

The Japanese version was better, simply because they make things far more over-the-top.

Japanese because they made it seem like an awesome kung fu movie but with food.
Also it was interesting food. Yet another show with a Bobby Flay tamale thing can't compare to the random things Morimoto did as an afterthought.

Japan by a country mile. I only hope that the Aussie Iron Chef that starts next tuesday is half as entertaining. Also That's not a bell pepper that the Chairman is eating, it's your testicle.

japan's made it seem like the opponent had a chance. here in america you can see the scripted-ness a mile a way.

Iron Chef USA was superior to both. Nah, just kidding.
Oh yeah. Japan. Don't get me wrong, IC America is a worthy endevour, and deserves our thanks for giving Alton Brown more work and finally settleing the question of who would win in a fight between Rachel and Giada, but it's nowhere near as good as the Japan show. It's just crazier.

I've always judged this sort of debate on which show features more drunken eels. Clearly, it must be Original Recipe.

Eh, while I concede that ICJ was a million times better, i don't think ICA is -bad- per se.

Yeah Iron Chef Japan is better, thank god they put it back on the air though Cooking Channel. But really I like IC America, I think it just gets a bad rep because it's not "the other" show. Even though if it was modeled dead on to the Japan original I'm sure everyone would just complain how it's too much like the original.

they put it back on the air though Cooking Channel. Or, as I call it, the Food Network on a 12-year tape delay.

Does ICA have an evil culinary school that wants to end the career of an Iron chef and sends various Kung Fu style specialists against him for revenge?

That whole feud with the "Otah Faction" from the Japanese version by itself made it better than ICA.
You wont see chairman Kamen Rider have to fend off an evil millionaire and his legion of chefs for the honor of Kitchen stadium.

Iron Chef Japan also had the actress who played Sophie Fatale refuse to sample a meal with Whale meat in it.

Japan's Iron Chef. It's so over the top that it can make it into a Final Fantasy game with ease. If Chef Ramsey went to Japan, I would have loved to see "fight" one of the Iron Chefs for sure.
