This isn't a WWE-hate thread..as I have been a fan first and foremost of the WWF/WWE since 1987, and will follow the organization in some way until such a day I can't or the organization crumbles. (Whichever comes first.)
But I've found myself completely disinterested in the product lately, and just nothing seems to jump out and me and compels me. Maybe it was because of my younger age (I am now almost 25), but I remember being absolutely riveted by storylines, and waiting for week to week elements to unfold. Now, I just check results out of morbid curiousity if I remember that they happen, and only order two PPV's a year (RR and Wrestlemania).
Anybody feel the same way about the WWE product? I mean, I always find one or two elements that I enjoy, but the entire product just feels watered down, lack of any real compelling creative direction, and feels like it has been on cruise control for the better part of 5 years. (With rare exceptions of storylines such as many of the complex HBK ones.)

It's certainly not as must see as it used to be or at least the PPV's aren't anyway. They definitely lack memorable moments. I've enjoyed this year though, I think it's been good for the most part and hopefully they can push on from there. They certainly need to start pulling their finger out with the ratings and buyrates becoming as low as they are.

It's because the product is overexposed. Too many TV shows. Too many PPVs. But vince is making money off of it so it's not likely to change any time soon.

The problem isn't just that, it's also the solution can be as painful as the problem... at least on the short term. If he reduces the exposure, as you implied, it would hurt them in the short-term.

pining for the past is a bad and incredibly dangerous thing to do, IMO. That doesn't mean you aren't welcome to do it, but still.

A big reason is Vince is allowed to get away with a stale product because the business model and marketplace they have right now is very profitable. It's not like 1995 with PG-TV and where they were on the verge of going out of business. It's been like this for several years, but I think now that PPV buyrates are down, the audience not only on a domestic level has been overexposed, but now the worldwide audience has been overexposed...I feel like within the next two years you will see a change within WWE's creative standpoint that hopefully will have more updated, realistically, and compelling storylines.

I've been watching for roughly 25 years now, and I don't ever remember it being compelling must see TV to be honest. It's been better, but it's still always been the silliness of wrestling.
It's more saturation than anything. Once they did away with the older system of having your contracted guys mostly beating jobbers, with the big "main event" being two contracted guys actually wrestle on free TV...well there's only so many ways you can pair them against each other before you've seen it all multiple times.
Of course having 3 PPVs or so every 2 months doesn't help much either.

Honestly, I've been pretty bored lately too. Last Monday was the first Raw I missed, (didn't watch because of Bears/Packers, and didn't DVR) in who knows how long. However, Cena/Nexus has me interested for tomorrow.

I've been watching for nearly over 30 years (beat that ) and it's never been consistently compelling 'must see' tv at any point. Just that overexposure (ppvs, main eventers on nearly every show etc) hasn't made anything special whatsoever.

Theres too many shows...and not enough competition.
UFC doesn't count as it's a completely different kettle of fish. The only competition the WWE has is TNA...and well yeah...

It was definetly must see during the early days of the Nexus angle. It was the first time since the Attitude Era I could be arsed to watch week in, week out. Then everything stagnated to the point I missed last Monday's Raw and now I'm gonna watch again to see what happens with CeNexus.

I haven't really watched or cared 100% about wrestling since WCW died. I was a huge WCW fan, and didn't start watching the WWE until the Invasion. Then I watched regularly until about the middle of 2003 and haven't watched regularly since, with little spurts here and there.

While it is nowhere near as exciting as it was during the attitude era, where I looked forward to every show, I do think that RAW this year has been the closest they have come to being Must see TV since then. They have put on some very entertaining shows and had a compelling storyline with the Nexus. And also the Bryan/Miz fued.
Smackdown however I find quite boring, aside from a few things like Del Rios, Lay Cool, and Striker's announcing.
