As someone whose in the book industry and had a chance to read (his uncorrected advanced proof); I must say; after you read it you'll be even more intrigued. He dogs his time in WWE as an announcer and talks about how abusive Vince was to him on the earpiece. He said he liked it at first; but when Vince started dropping F bombs he lost all respect for him. Completely a trashing of Vince; and how hurt Foley was with his being taken advantage of with the direction of announcing and the pressures from Vince. On a side note; great Alex Shelley stories regarding him and his youngest son. Most of the book is in a diary style countdown to the days to Lockdown; with segways covering his other personal going ons. As someone who wasn't much of a TNA fan; moreso Mick Foley the person & writer; I was kind of bored in the end result. A LOT of TNA talk. Well, thank you, I think that finally convinces me to save my money and not buy this book. Imagine just how much abuse Cole must've gotten over his headset over all these years. Yet he's still here. Michael Cole - he's hardcore.

Please don't buy it based on that; I would give it a chance. A Foley book is always a great read if your pro wrestling fan; and written in typical Mick Foley quick witted fashion. The first 50 or so pages contain mainly his 2006-2008 days in WWE (where he states that writing the Hardcore Diaries was the worst times of his life).
He does go into a lot of the preparation of being an announcer; and another standout chapter is the Benoit one; about 3 quarters of the way in. I would shed some light on this; but in all honestly I don't remember enough of the chapter to give you any insight as I've let my brother read this and don't have it on me.
I will say this; immediately after reading this; I purchased One Night Stand (the one where foley wrestles edge); I was more intrigued about his time in WWE 2006-2008 as I was on a wrestling hiatus from 2002-2009. Hope that helps; and also the first 45000 copies go to a good cause.

PWInsider:
-- Regarding Michael Cole plugging Mick Foley's new book over commentary during last night's Raw, it was said to be a decision made by Vince McMahon out of respect for all Foley did for World Wrestling Entertainment during his time with the organization.

As much dogging Foley does in this book; I think it's safe to say he doesn't deny the fact that he owes a lot to the McMahon family. His gripes with the way Vince harasses the announcers and his departure doesn't hold too much weight; I think just Foley being honest.

Sadly more people watch TNA than will likely watch Foley's movie, and they bash WWE all the time.

Some people think it's cause Vince has bought out TNA. I would mark out for that If they sent Cole to Commentate on the TNA Brand. I would mark double if they teamed Cole with Don West! both as heels who bury all the wrestlers

I honestly think Vince has a real soft spot for Foley. He's just so unlike Vince, and I think it's something where Vince may even feel bad about what led Mick to leave. About how Vince acts with about everyone, I think he wouldn't care if he made most people angry, but it seems like Vince would maybe have a twinge of guilt because Mick did embrace his new role and wanted to do his best, but was getting f-bombed over the headsets....on a taped show, mind you!
But, I don't know, it just seems like from what Foley has said about Vince in his previous books, that he really likes Mick as a person, and this is showing "hey ya know what, sorry about being such a jerk before, you know me and I didn't mean it, we miss seeing ya around here ya big lug! good luck with everything"

I found it doubly interesting that they aired footage of Mick beating HHH last night as well. I wonder if Mick's contract with TNA is about to end and Vince is trying to recruit him back.

McMahon was sexually abused as a child, and so I suppose his decision is based on 1) his affection and respect for Foley 2) the fact that Foley's royalties, at least in part, are going to an anti-Rape Abuse Incest Network.

I'm curious to read this book because I thought Foley was GREAT as an announcer. I really want to know what exactly he hated so much about the job.

That's insane. Does TNA actually allow this? I mean, WWE fired one of the Highlanders for just ATTENDING a TNA show.

great article on wwe.com.
a good paraphrase of some of the more intriguing chapters in the books; and was hoping they would be bringing up the wrestler death chapter; however you can't always get everything you ask for.
I'm still trying to track down the 1st draft of the Jericho book; and if i do would be glad to shed some insight on the contents.

It goes to show no bridge can burned with WWE unless you badmouth them in public. And Vince is not Satan incarnate as most people make him out to be.
