Who's yours? I'd say mine is the Sex Pistols - sure, they only had a few actual recorded tracks, almost certainly the least of any truly great band, and one of them is Friggin' in the Riggin', but basically, when they were good, they blew anyone away.
Here's one of my favourites
Note - I think there's only a tiny bit of bad language, right at the start. Fingers in ears between 19-22 seconds, kiddies.

I generally prefer The Clash, but I'm admittedly not a big Punk guy.

I can't decide really. It's probably The Ramones because my dad is a huge fan of them and I grew up to their music since I was 5. Also they are my cheer up band.
The honorable mentions in this very tight foot race for me in no order except for Social Distortion were:
-Social Distortion (The runner up) -Black Flag -Against Me! -Gallows -Dropkick Murphys -Bad Religion -The Bouncing Souls -Blink 182 (Ya I know)

I'm from LA but I like Boston hardcore more. Irony. You gotta love it.

Rancid and all associated acts.
But I like The Misfits, Balzac, Dead Kennedys, Ramones, Bad Religion, and so on and so forth.

Damn, hard call. There's a lot of different answers I could give for a lot of reasons.
I'll probably go for Rancid right now, just because living and growing up right next to where they're from makes their songs have a huge amount of personal meaning to me, and because I think Tim Armstrong is a musical genius, and because Rancid reminds me of my brother who got me into punk in the first place. So Rancid is a band I love more on a personal level.

Going to the Tenderloin, getting on the Daly City Train, Journeying to the End of East Bay to go to the Gilman, it was a lot of fun. Then meeting Lars and seeing just how amazingly nice that guy is.

Count me in for the Misfits. Danzig, Graves, Only, I like it all. Seconded. I don't care who's singing or writing the songs, Misfits are still awesome. I'm also a big fan of The Stooges, who I suppose are technically more of a garage rock/protopunk band but I still consider them punk. I like Dead Kennedys, too. And the Ramones.
