Due to the boiler being dead at work was thinking about heat based superheroes and villains.
Did these two ever meet? Because thinking about it Pyro would surely own Johnny as he can control his fire?
Would have been a good storyline.

Can't the Human Torch control flame too? I think the two could snuff each other's powers and then Storm would just beat the snot out of him with his fists. Or just overload Pyro's abilities because he can reach heat extremes that the mutant can't dampen.

Pyro is a pyrokinectic; he can control fire and form it into shapes and such, but he can't generate it himself and, as far as I know, has no control over the intensity of the flames.
Johnny can generate his own flame, and control the intensity, going so far as 'super nova', but he has never shown the abilty to shape the flames. He has, however, shown the abilty to 'suck fire away'.
Johnny would likely be able to put pyro down with a high intensity blast, but it is possible Pyro would be able to control Johnny when he was flamed on. As such, Johnny's best bet might be exactly what Caleb suggested - namely to power down, suck away Pyro's flames and then just punch him out.

Couldn't Johnny just turn his fire off and take Pyro hand to hand?

Yeah, Johnny's own command over his own form would negate anything Pyro could do, and then failing that he could crank up the intensity to 'nova' and take him out that way.
And Johnny can form crude shapes ( nets and such) with his flames. Nothing Pyro level fancy, but he can do it.

although i like Pyro better, i think it would be difficult becuse his power is only throwing fire and Johnny is fire proff (in human form-- i think. )

Pyro always struck me as being kinda weak. I dont think Human Torch wouldn have much problem with him. He could just drill him with a M. Bision "psycho crusher" style move and knock him into oblivion.

Pyro can control flame, increasing the size and intensity of fire, as well as shaping it. He cannot create fire however, and has to have a source.
Johnny Storm can create fire, and do so at intensities that are most likely more than Pyro can control. Johnny Storm can also control his own flame, and with much greater skill than Pyro has ever shown. In one comic in the sixties Storm picked up a dollar bill with a lasso of flame, keeping the fire hot enough for the hot air to pick up the bill but low enough so that the paper would not burn. Pyro has never exhibited control like that.
So Pyro could attack Johnny Storm with fire that would not affect Storm, Johnny would fight back with his own fire that could probably affect Pyro, as Pyro has been burned before.
