I was split between whether to start a thread for this or WWE celebrity lookalikes (mostly to share the thought I've had for years that Marcus Cor Von looks just like the guy who plays Foreman on House) but I decided this is more interesting.
So yeah, what do you think of when you think of a Dusty Finish in regards to WWE?
First one to come to mind for me is probably the JBL / Eddie Bash match. Had all of the trademarks - was at the Great American Bash, had a decision reversed in just the right way to piss fans off, and it made no sense as the rules said JBL had to touch the corners uninterrupted and I'd think being hit with a bell to be an interruption.

Can someone explain a Dusty Finish for me? I've read explanations about them before but it usually results in me going crossed eyed and being none the wiser.

I thought it was just a younger Ted Dibiase Jr. trying to redeem himself from previous things by helping Randy o.O Cause seriously they look alike .. never understood that interference either..he hasn't shown up since Though that whole match was booked random as hell with the restarts.

Has been for a while, actually. That's probably why he hasn't been called up.

I was at the Chris Jericho/Triple H match in April 2000. When they Dusty-finished Jericho's title win, let's just say it took the air out of the crowd to the point that they had to announce Stone Cold was coming to ref at Backlash to get us back into it.
An hour later.

Another pointless one - the awkwardly-named Vengeance Night of Champions, Batista beat Edge by countout in his last chance match, and so that Batista wasn't screwed out of his shot it was immediately restarted... and Edge won by count out.
God, that was dumb. And pointless, since Batista got another title shot at the next freaking pay-per-view.

Specifically, a Dusty Finish back in the day usually involved the NWA rule that a match ended whenever any competitor went over the top rope -- it was a DQ to send the opponent out of the ring that way.
Also usually involved a referee switch with the original ref being bumped and out of the action.
So the babyface would win by pinfall after the heel had managed to go over the top rope, usually by no fault of the babyface. The substitute ref would count the pinfall and award the belt to the face. Then the original ref would revive and reverse the decision because of the over-the-top-rope thing.

Undertaker vs Kane, Summerslam 2000. There was no overall victory by pin or submission as Kane had his mask removed and done a runner back to the locker rooms. Wasn't even a countout.

To be fair Edge got injured a few weeks later otherwise I think it would have been longer till Batista got a title shot. Otherwise we would have got a Kane vs. Khali title match.

Another example would the World Heavyweight Title match between Trips and Shawn Michaels on Raw at San Antonio, in 30 Dec. 2003.

The fans were chomping at the bit already to see Triple H dethroned, it only would've been sweeter since they were in Shawn's hometown. By the end of the night, the crowd wanted to castrate Bischoff.
