WWE tried and failed with WCW. They tried and failed with the NWA. They tried and failed with the nWo. But with Nexus, it seems like WWE has finally started booking invasions properly. I don't know if it's because ALL of the Nexus are home-grown stars (we all know about Vince's xenophobia toward other wrestling promotions) and thus Vince feels he can make them look like a threat, but whatever the case, it's been good, compelling TV.
So, would you say this is the best invasion angle WWE has ever done? Granted, there's not many contenders that weren't bad (although maybe an exception can be made to the '97 ECW invasion).

I think they did a good job in the 05/06 ECW Invasions.

I think they did a good job in the 05/06 ECW Invasions. I'd agree mostly, but those were mostly reunion gigs. Sometimes I do wonder if the second ONS should've been a reunion show only, though. Except RVD vs. Cena, which still would've been on the card even if ECW wasn't brought back as a brand.

I guess so, but I'm not sure I would really consider Nexus good. It started off great, but really died out quick for me. It seemed like creative just decided one day to have the NXT guys beat everyone up, and then really had no clue what to do after that.

I'd honestly say yes, just because all of the others were horrendous. The first ECW one, back in the late 90s was pretty good, but it wasn't all around. They were invited by King, than they just started showing up randomly for the next month or two.
The thing with the Nexus is: it had a great introduction, one that will be considered a memorable moment in the panels of professional wrestling... a few good weeks up of beat-downs, whether it be Bret or the Legends, than it just really fizzled out. For all purposes, Nexus should have ended at SummerSlam when they lost to team WWE, in a good match that had a shitty ending. But they continued, and now it has been been reborn, and it's good again.
For the most part, though, it hasn't been all that top notch. There were months of just the same thing.

The 90's ECW Invasion was great... plus helped get RVD over as a heel by having him be Lawler's chosen one from ECW as the only talented guy there (according to him). Mr. Monday Night was awesome.

I must admit to having a soft spot for the original ECW invasion. The only problem was it was so damn brief (at least in the WWF). I almost think it was Vince's way to one-up the nWo at the time; i.e. "They have a fake WWF invasion? Bah! I'll have an invasion by a REAL promotion!" The sheer balls it takes to do that is impressive and commendable.
