Okay, so I haven't really followed WWF for a long time. Stopped watching about a year after the invasion. It was a fun time, but it also kind of ruined it. The WCW wrestlers I wanted never really came and it all ran a bit stale.
Anyway... just wondering what's happening these days!? I have read that it is more family friendly now? I don't really have much of a problem with that to be honest. I much prefer the old skool (80s/90s) stuff anyway.
Can't believe Bret Hart came back. OK, I can...haha... but still pretty major. I just watched the Hart vs Vince fight.... Awful. How is that family friendly? It was actually quite brutal! Did you guys find the fight terrible as well? Or am I really that out of touch!? ;D
John Cena seems like the biggest name these days. Almost as big as the Rock was. Am I right in saying that? He seems good in the ring, although he is pretty annoying.
Make your replies as short or long as you like.... ;D
PS: Was TNA around in my day? How big is it? Is it good?

John Cena is, in fact, quite annoying.

You might as well forget about The Rock because he hasn't stepped foot into an arena during a WWE show since you last watched.
Nexus = 2010's nWo...but better. RKO = 2010's Stone Cold Stunner Michael Cole = Michael Cole
I'll let other 'Crappers contribute.

TNA is a company that you want to root for but they make a lot of boneheaded decisions. Anyone want to compare them to late AWA?

Goddam Environmentalists! Anyway, Shawn Michaels retired and Flair, Hogan, Mick Foley and Sting are in TNA.

Brock Lesner used to wrestle. D-X got back together (with just Hunter and HBK) Kane took his mask off, and he was never burned to begin with. Eric Bischoff was the GM of Raw. ECW came back, but after the two PPV's, it sucked Chris Benoit... yeah.
TNA? Avoid them like the plague!

The WCW guys you speak of probably did come in, but most after the Invasion.
Hell, Ric Flair debuted on Raw the night AFTER the WCW/ECW crew was killed off at Survivor Series.
Scott Steiner, Goldberg, Hogan, Hall, Nash, and Eric Bischoff all came in over the 6-7 months following the Invasion's end. Rey Mysterio debuted on SmackDown in July 2002.
Some other lesser WCW guys would show up over the years as well like, Ernest "The Cat" Miller.
Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Test, Bam Bam Bigelow, Mike Awesome, and several others that were big at that time are dead.
As for TNA, it ran it's first show in June of 2002 and was founded by Jeff Jarrett and his father Jerry in Nashville. They've had their ups and downs. Started by running weekly PPV's, eventually got on Fox Sports Network and then finally Spike TV. They are currently being conned by Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, because Dixie Carter, TNA's president, doesn't learn from the past.
TNA has had flashes of brilliance many times, but never are able to keep it going. But there's always hope.

Until recently, WWE could be summed up with two words: Groundhog Day

Why did he leave so early? he seemed to have such a good future ahead of him. I see he has turned up in Ultimate Fighting... random! 2. I've seen footage of Hunter and HBK. It's cringeworthy, these guys couldn't be less cool if they tried. I'm a fan of both, but come on!!!?! 3. Yeah of seen Kane's taken his mask off. Friggin stupid idea. Although some of my last memories of him are him acting as more of a comedy act. Which was terrible. 4. Interesting! 5. Shame, ECW had some good wrestlers. 6. What happened?

Did you guys find the fight terrible as well? Or am I really that out of touch!? No you're right...that match was downright terrible and is hardly reflective of the product WWE is putting forward these days.
John Cena seems like the biggest name these days. Almost as big as the Rock was. Am I right in saying that? He seems good in the ring, although he is pretty annoying. John Cena is definitely the biggest name out there. I don't know if he really comes close to Rock levels though. And while you're right that he is pretty annoying, he's really not that great in the ring. Not necessarily bad, but nothing to write home about.
PS: Was TNA around in my day? How big is it? Is it good? TNA is terrible and I'd avoid it at all costs. I really only watch it out of some weird sense of obligation to be honest. It's basically a place for all former WWE talent to go and hold down a job while they're on the outs with the WWE (Kurt Angle, Mick Foley, Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Al Snow, D'Lo Brown, Tommy Dreamer, The Dudleyz, Raven, Stevie Richards, Jeff Hardy, Rob Van Dam, Jeff Jarrett to name a few).
Aside from that the WWE seems to be in the midst of making some legitimate new stars these days...Sheamus, The Miz and Wade Barrett are all taking off at the moment.
There's also a new ECW-esque promotion around these days called Ring Of Honor. I say ECW-esque not because it's hardcore wrestling, but because it's a smaller, third wrestling company focusing more on wrestling than entertainment. Some of their talent has already signed with WWE (CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Kaval, Evan Bourne) and are all incredible to watch.

Go back to where you came from. It's no coincidence that about 75 Attitude Era Appreciation threads pop up here every week.
I mean, sure, when you're watching out of habit like us you'll find little things to enjoy, but there's a good chance you won't mesh with the product since it's heavily watered down and been on cruise control since 2004.
But yeah...here's a brief list:
-Cena's your new Hogan.
-Orton's your new Austin.
Triple H is Triple H.
-Nexus are this year's flavor of invading group, not likely to make the year, though comprised of a group of rookies that everybody cann't get enough of despite wishing for all of their releases back in March.
- Cruiserweight Division is dead. The last champion was a leprechaun, who was a sidekick to Finlay. Yes, WCW's Fit Finlay redebuted for WWE in 2006. And became US Champion.
-The WWE had an entire brand split, and now Raw/Smackdown! are two separate shows. With their own main event titles, midcard titles, and now a Unified Womens' Title + Unified Tag Titles.
-Sunday Night HeAt is no longer alive. But Superstars is back!
