I am going to say as far back as around 1992 or so. That was the last time imo the tag titles had any importance. After that, the tag team division was mostly composed of two random guys that shared little in common, as oppose to tag teams like the Road Warriors or Demolition.

When The Hardys, Edge and Christian, and Dudleys were fighting for the titles. We got some good matches out of that.

Beyond those teams in that era, there wasn't really a good tag team, except of course the Mean Street Posse . For example, T&A was composed of Stephanie's ex-boyfriend and a guy that used to hang out with another that puked. How they became friends is beyond me.

Heyman did a nice job when they had Rey/Edge, Team Angle and Los Guerreros feuding over them

Ladder match with Kendrick/London, Regal and Taylor, Hardyz and MNM. That's the last time they seemed to do something with it, anyways.

also londrick/hardys/MNM wasn't that bad since they had other teams that kept coming around (buldogs, Deuce and Domino, Regal and Taylor etc)

I'd say in 2003 or so when Heyman was booking Smackdown and you had some great matches over the brand new WWE Tag Team Championships.
I also thought 1998-2001 was a good time for tag team wrestling. You had teams like the New Age Outlaws, Acolytes, E&C, the Dudleys, and the Hardys all vying for the belt.

I agree that the late 80s and early 90s were a who's who of legendary tag-teams and is probably the best that the tag team scene has ever been. But the late 90s to early 00s had some decent teams too as well as a real tag-team division and (gasp) tag team feuds. Can't say the same about the mid 90s and recent years. Even the thrown together teams like the New Age Outlaws and the APA worked well and were over.

I think the team of Owen Hart and the British Bulldog did the straps some good justice back in 1997.

DX vs Rated RKO? Surely 4 of the biggest stars feuding over the belt gave it credibility?

DX vs Rated RKO? Surely 4 of the biggest stars feuding over the belt gave it credibility? The belts were barely mentioned in that feud. DX showed no desire to become the tag champions whatsoever and got DQed in their only shot at the belts.

You had the Acolytes/APA, Too Cool (not a fan personally, but they were over), Kaientai, and the Headbangers were enjoying their last days. And Head Cheese says hi.

During the early part of the millenium, but a series of bad tag teams helped lower the prestige of both titles.* Sometimes a good team helps give the title some prestige back,** but the title hasn't been booked well in years, so even those good reigns do little to help.
* La Resistance, Deuce and Domino, Rene Dupree and Kenzo Susuki
** Jerishow, Rated RKO, London and Kendrick, Mysterio and Eddie, Mysterio and RVD, Miz and Morrison.

I'd say quite recently, when Big show was holding the belts with Jericho and then Miz.

Smackdown: MNM, Deuce n Domino, Regal & Taylor and Londrick Raw: Cade & Murdoch, Cryme Tyme, The Hardyz and The Highlanders That's the last time the WWE had a really strong tag division. Smackdown's was excellant and other than The Highlanders, Raw's was pretty good too. Didn't last long though, MNM, Regal & Taylor and The Hardyz all broke up shortly afterwards

Never? WWF has never really cared about tag titles. Certainly not some of the times people are name dropping here, when the entirety of the tag division on BOTH shows consisted of four teams (if that) total.
