I always love his BS stories, like his explanation for the meaning of "4 UP" on Elijah Burke's hand wrappings.

I like that Striker tries to explain things, but everytime he does, he ends up losing any credibility he had.

I like that Striker tries to explain things, but everytime he does, he ends up losing any credibility he had. Isn't he the color commentator, not play by play? It's not really his job to be credible. Hell, Lawler and Heenan were at their best when they were spouting lies.

Striker is terrible and an idiot who cares more about getting himself (and his ridiculous nicknames and references) over than getting the wrestlers and match over.

I always love his BS stories, like his explanation for the meaning of "4 UP" on Elijah Burke's hand wrappings. I wasn't watching when Burke was with the company, and the first time I saw him was when I was watching the playthrough of CM Punk's "Road To Wrestlemania" on SVR. (The makers of the video game did a better job booking him, Burke I mean in a feud with Punk, and telling a story than the real WWE creative, btw.) Anyway, after that I looked at his Wikipedia entry and according to that it means "four knuckles upside the head" or something like that. Is that what Striker said about it, or did he say something entirely different? And if so, what was his story?

Striker, on the other hand, said that Burke, like all the young people, loves video games and that "4 Up" means he has four lives left.

I remember he used to come up with backstories for most of the jobbers on ECW, ranging from Muay Thai students to cell phone repairmen.

I love when Striker explains moves and the differences in how certain wrestlers apply them. His backstories are hit and miss. I remember iPhone app creator jobber and only woman to defeat Beth Phoenix in amateur competition jobber in particular.

I wonder if he has a notebook filled with backstories that he has come up with and adds them to the match story as he goes?

Yeah, Michael Cole seeing right past his nonsense was awesome, and pretty much had the same reaction I had when I heard it.

Striker: "Did you know Kelly Kelly was hired by Vince McMahon in 2002 when he met her as a flight attendant on an Eastern Airlines flight from Dallas to Fort Worth, Texas?"
Cole: "I don't think that's how it happened Matt."
Striker: "You calling me a liar?"
Cole: "That's pretty much what I'm saying."
Striker: "Refute it!"
Cole: "Alright. For starters, Kelly was about 15 years old in 2002. No way would a company, especially an airliner, would hire a teenage girl to be a flight attendant. And why would Mr. McMahon be on a flight from Dallas to Fort Worth? The cities are like a half hour drive apart. Plus, Eastern Airlines didn't have a Fort Worth hub. And lastly, Eastern Airlines has ceased to exist since like 1990. Unless Kelly was a 3 year old flight attendant, your story is complete and utter bullcrap."
Striker: "I'm sorry.....I meant Pan Am Airlines"
Cole: "PAN AM FOLDED IN THE SAME YEAR!"
Striker: "Alright. Fine! I made that story up. I was trying to protect Kelly from people finding out she hasn't done anything of note with her life before the WWE other than a little bit of modeling and spending her weekends pissing in sinks."
Cole: "Well...that was pretty nice of you. Oh, by the way while we were chatting, the Undertaker announced his retirement. We'll be right back."

The absurd back stories are why I dislike Striker so much.
"The newly bald CM Punk has been hiding in the shadows, enduring the taunts and laughter of the WWE Universe since being unmasked by the Big Show."
..And then CM Punk comes out bald and doesn't act any different than he usually does.
"The Miz used his vast social networking skills to learn new submissions!"
..Because that's how you learn submissions. From twitter.
"Batista has been drinking a lot of milk for the calcium intake. It will make his skull stronger in case he has to take a chair shot from the Undertaker."
And my favorite, that isn't a back story but just a ridiculous comment:
"The middle rope is five feet off the mat."
Which would make, say, R-Truth about eleven foot tall.

Kofi and Kaval vs Dudebusters for the Tag Titles at Wrestlemania in a Smackdown vs Raw 2011 Xbox match.
You heard it here first.

My main grievance with Striker would be that he spells every little thing out for you.
It gets very condescending after a while, and I expect him someday to say something about how it is better to get a win, than to lose.

Some of these are certainly gaffes. Other times, I think we're supposed to be calling his bluff. After all, before Cole's turn, he was essentially the only heel announcer, while a tame one. He's a blowhard, and if he is pissing people off, it's often because we are taking him a lot more seriously than he is.

i like Strikers commentary, hes trys so hard to be Old School. I hate when King or Cole puts him down, because he is the only trying to bring some old school cred to the wwe crapfest.

Guys, you don't have to find a reason to hate all the commentators. If there's one that actually tries to do the damn job, it's ok to like them.
That said, that Kaval/Kofi story is f***ing ridiculous. I love it.

Striker's awesome. He reminds me of how Heenan used to just make shit up on the fly and Gorilla would try to call him on it.
