Okay, first things first, I would have called the thread ''Legendary Promos'' but figured most people would assume this was a thread about advertising Cena's new film so....
I was thinking today about Austin's promo at the '96 King Of The Ring and the debut of Austin 3:16 and this got me to thinking...when was the last time somebody cut a promo that would become the stuff of legend?
Things like Foley's anti-hardcore promo, Hogan's promo at Bash of the Beach '96 and Flair's rant at Bischoff after the nWo/Horsemen parody.
A promo that defines an era or a shift in character.
The only thing that springs to mind is possibly the Orton/McMahon segment after the Royal Rumble last year but unfortunately I felt it was ruined in the weeks that followed.
I've put this in the WWE section as I want to limit it to that.

Would the Nexus promo the week after they first arrived count as historic, or too soon to tell?

Vince McMahon's simulcast promo on Raw/Nitro is about as historic as it gets. Jericho's debut promo was pretty unforgettable as well.

Would the Nexus promo the week after they first arrived count as historic, or too soon to tell? I genuinely cannot remember any of it. The last historic promo I remember was Edge/Foley before Summerslam 2008.

Daniel Bryan venting backstage, and in the ring after his elimination form NXT..I hear those and just relize if given the right situation, his promos can be gold
One I loved..not really "historic" but still left a mark was Jake The Snake's promo before WrestleMania 6 vs Ted Dibiase I FREAKING LOVE THAT PROMO! ;D ;D ;D And if Jake wasn't all messed up he would be a major improvement to WWE's backstage team with him giving feedback on other talents mic work

Bret Hart's promo after Wrestlemania 13, where he turned heel on the United States.
"So from here on in, the American wrestling fans coast to coast can kiss my ass!"

Some great stuff mentioned so far, I actually can't remember much of the Nexus promo and I specifically watched that segment on youtube the day after.
The Piper quote above is awesome and while I know some don't rate Miz' promo ability I really rate him and think his segment on last week's RAW before Bryan interrupted could be up there.

"68,000 of you mother canuckers booing the Rock out of the building."
That whole promo was brilliant! Not sure about historic, but it sure was fantastic. Eating out of the Rock's hand they were.

One of the very best, from one of the very best. Hotrod nails it yet again. This is why Rowdy Roddy Piper is one of my idols. He said what needed to be said. Chris Jericho was acting like selfish spoiled brat who has no respect for the superstars like him who came before him and made sure that people like him had a job. They gave their blood sweat and tears for this business and gave us many memories that we'll never forget. And Jericho was trying to take it all away from us because he couldn't handle sharing the spotlight with a bunch of old school guys we grew up on. Piper without a doubt said what we were thinking. Jericho on the other hand needs to (kayfabe) grow up. Anyways, as for legendary promos..I'd go with Joey Styles's worked shoot promo. How he was mistreated since day one, having to ignore the moves in the ring on purpose. He was always being berated for his commentary style just because he's not JR..who they fired to begin with. He said what was true, this wasn't wrestling anymore, it was sports entertainment. You had male cheerleaders, A respected announcer who is a cornerstone in WWE having his colon surgery made a joke of mocked on national television, which probably only Vince found funny...Vince bashing religion and acting like he is a higher authority than god, and of course..Male Cheerleaders. I know it was kayfabe..but im glad someone had the balls to say what was wrong with WWE in the first place.

Recently? We might look back and think of the Miz "JBL promo" or even his promo with Morrison where they sat down and had the debate. If Miz takes off... those two will stick out.
