It was cool, really really cool. In a way his fans were telling him there was hope. Just keep going.

WWE may have found the one angle that can get Cena a majority babyface reaction for the first time in ages. Pretty much my thoughts also. Lets be honest Cena was beyond stale and that's part of the reason a lot of people didn't like his act. WWE has the option to make Cena a more accepted (and over) face or if they did decide to turn him heel it could be huge, imagine if he gets the acceptance of most of the fanbase and then turns. It'd be huge. For the first time in ages I'm really looking forward to seeing how a Cena storyline pans out, mainly because for once I'm not certain where it's leading. Gold Star, Smiley Face, and one whole Internet for whoever in WWE came up with this one. As long as they don't mess it up by having Cena destroy Nexus next week and not get fired by Laptop-Boy, in direct opposition to what he said this week, of course.

Whenever they're planning on having Cena destroy Nexus, they need to book that show in Wichita as well.

It was cool, really really cool. In a way his fans were telling him there was hope. Just keep going. Exactly. Cena's reaction, where he stood there and took it in, nodded and walked up the ramp, sold it perfectly. It drove home the story that Cena thrives off of the love from his fans, and enhanced the subplot that his adoration of that adulation could be his demise. It couldn't have been scripted any better than that.

It couldn't have been scripted any better than that. Honestly, this could also be a great set up if Cena were to do a heel turn. Have Cena start to join in on the Nexus beatdowns, on Wade's orders, and have the fans begin to boo him. Eventually Cena snaps and goes heel, blaming the fans for booing him and turning their backs on him when he was doing what he had to stay in the WWE for his fans. Essentially a hero scorned storyline that can alter the very landscape of the WWE.

i found myself rooting for Cena towards the end of the night. And I usually dislike Cena. Unfortunately, I found myself rooting for David Otunga. I still don't know how that wound up happening...

I still can't believe the crowd cheered that to Cena; it was so bizarre that it could have won the royal rumble. It was so cheesy yet so appropriate. Mark crowds where the babyface gets cheered and the heel gets booed are so awesome. It reminded me of the days when Hogan and Austin could be on top years but still have 99% crowd support. Cena normally gets at best 60% so it was nice to see the current top face of the WWE (aside from perhaps Orton) actually get cheered

Exhibit A on why a Cena heel turn would be awful. +Merchandise and the fact Raw doesn't have a really goody-good face in an era that is pretty much marketed for a younger audience (not saying this negatively). I also was a little impressed by it and maybe even moved. The fans reacted as if when Hogan turned heel, with that disappointment on their faces. The fact that they still love him goes to show you that the internet hate on Cena is completely unwarranted. He has a tremendous workrate and is arguably going to be their most significant star to lead them into this new era. I was stunned that people cared that much, and it really goes to show you how important he is to the company.

Thanks.
I think the Nexus angle has been really good for Cena. He IS a huge star and people obviously care about him. One day I really think he will be considered in the same league as Hogan, Austin and Rock. That is as long as he continues to get involved in fresh and interesting angles such as this current one. He will have to have a memorable heel turn in a few years as well.

I liked it. It's probably the closest thing I've ever seen revolve around Cena that is really close to the old Hulkamania days other than all the kids wearing his stuff.
I believe that was Wichita's first RAW or I'm pretty sure they don't get too many at all since it is kind of in the middle of Kansas. Hell Kansas City(on the Missouri side) only started getting a lot of stuff because of our new arena The Sprint Center.

The guy has the charisma and everything but wrestling just isn't popular right now. Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart would have been on that level but the fact is WWE's popularity didn't take off again until they were both gone.

Quite possibly the most appropriate chant in WWE history. It was a PERFECT fit for the situation with great timing.
