While I was watching Raw, and when the GM was telling Cena that since Wade Barrett was the leader of Nexus he had to do what Barrett says, that got me to thinking.
They seemed to make it very clear, that Cena only had to do Barrett's bidding, it was pointed out multiple times. So what I'm wondering is this.
What if Cena somehow gets everyone else in Nexus to turn on Barrett and kick him out of the group? Then while he is still forced to be in the group, he doesn't have to listen to any of them because the stipulations specifically said that Wade was the leader.
Cena could then just destroy the group from within they way he originally wanted to, or he could take over as leader and go heel based on being corrupted by the power he has over Nexus.
I just think its interesting that they could do this, and have 2 real options to explore. The fact that they kept reiterating that Cena really only had to listen to Barrett is what has me thinking this.
What do you guys think?

Or like I said in another thread, make him the leader of the Nexus, turning him full fledged heel!

I'd noticed the same thing while trying to think of how WWE could get Cena out of Nexus.
It seems like a loaded phrase intended for exactly this purpose: if Barrett is no longer leader of the Nexus, the stipulation no longer applies. Maybe this is the point of showing Otunga's plotting and subverting of Barrett's authority, to have him eventually usurp the position of leader and then have Cena turn against him. Hell, maybe they could even have some of the other members of the Nexus side with Cena to turn them face.

I don't think they want to turn Cena heel quite yet. I think they are saving it as a big card to put down if the ratings start to tank.

I think that if they don't draw this out too damn long, that Cena turning heel could be huge... ESPECIALLY if they allow him to keep his nigh-superman status. I mean, Im not a Cena nut-hugger by any stretch of the imagination, but historically? The wrestlers that wind up being legendary (no pun intended) have been able to master main event face AND heel quanitities.

Well, the GM said Nexus is a group that follows the leader. Even if the leader changes, I still think that would mean that Cena would then have to take orders from whoever is the new leader of the Nexus?

He said "Nexus is clearly a group that takes direction from its leader, Wade Barrett. And thus as a member of the group, John, you must also take direction from Wade Barrett."
I think that's fairly specific that it means Barrett alone, although it's far from watertight if they wanted it to allow anyone who assumes the leadership position to give him orders.
