Just watching something on the Miz and it had me thinking.
Miz and Otunga both came from "Hollywood" so to say, as in people think they haven't paid their dues. Both came up 2nd place in their respective competitions. Both still entered WWE anyways.
Now, from here, the 1st place winner of TE4, Daniel Puder, does not special and moves on to MMA and Japan. Miz goes on to become a multi-time champion and lcreated my biggest mark-out moment since Tyson turned on HBK to give Stone Cold the title: Miz cashed in the Briefcase and won the World title, which when he first started, EVERYONE would have laughed in your face if you told them Miz was gonna beat Randy Orton for the World title.
So, what if NXT Season 1 follows the same path? In 6 years, will Otunga be the WWE Champion? Will Wade Barrett do absolutely nothing special after Nexus ends and fade away?

I don't see it.
The Miz was a reality television person, but he LOVED wrestling. He even created his moniker 'The Miz' on the show. He ran around with a fake world title. He always wanted to be a wrestler and worked his ass off to get where he is.
Otunga just seems like he doesn't care. I don't think (might be wrong) he was a fan of wrestling and just got into it because he saw that he had a good build and could lift people. I don't see him working his ass off like Miz did to get into place where he is now.

Wade Barrett has done way too much already to ever be compared to Daniel Puder.

the competitions are a night and day difference.
NXT is for their feeder system to bump up and get exposure. So they're all WWE wrestlers. Whereas Tough Enough was for beginners and people who might not fit the WWE mold yet they still win. That's how Puder won but was toast after. For NXT that realistically wouldn't happen.

I find it hard to believe there was nothing worth marking out for more over the past 13 years than Miz winning the title....

This made me realise, from the most humble beginnings, the Miz is literally living out his boyhood dream. How can you boo that?
How can you Otunga that?

I find it hard to believe there was nothing worth marking out for more over the past 13 years than Miz winning the title.... Reformation of ECW (during the Invasion) came close but was ruined when they joined WCW. After the Invasion I didn't watch much, but kept track. Then just stopped watching until recently. So after the Invasion, I couldn't have really marked for anything cuz I didn't see anything big happen.

WWE is grooming Otunga for a push whether you like it or not. And seeing the success and mainstream attention the Miz tilte win is getting, imagine the amount of coverage they will get when the former Harvard lawyer and husband of Grammy and Oscar winning Jennifer Hudson will get. So get ready because the Otunga Age is coming.
