I wasn't a big Attitude-era guy and I wasn't in the States at the time so... what the hell was this? From what I've read of it, it seems like some sort of crazy attempt at a WWF luche libre division/show with the occasional midget matches.
What the hell was it? Did anyone watch it? Any fond (or not so fond) memories?

I remember El Merenguero and his weird can of beans (or whatver it was) that he'd rattle around before a match. And of course the SUPER MERENGEUROPLEX.
I also remember TAKA and Val Venis cutting promos in spanish.

I remember catching a few episodes of that. it came on Saturday or Sunday afternoons in the late 90s. It was fun seeing something totally separate from what the WWF represented, at the time, take place in a Raw is War arena
WCW's cruiserweight division and use of their luchadores was better, though. Konnan, Eddie, Rey, Chavo, LaParka, & co. were on the main show and ppvs, facing Jericho & Malenko and sometimes rubbing shoulders with the NWO or other top main event guys.
Would WWE have dropped the ball on those WCW cruiserweights & luchadores by sticking them on the spanish channel on a weekend afternoon? I think they would have, at the time
(I vaguely remember some light heavyweight & international stars on some ppvs during the beginning of the attitude era, but it was quickly done away with)

They would tape it before RAW where the matches would get about 0 reaction from the Attitude Era fans. Good times.

I thought this only aired in Mexico. I've heard of it, but never watched it.

They would tape it before RAW where the matches would get about 0 reaction from the Attitude Era fans. Good times. I thought they filmed it in strictly Spanish speaking areas or somewhere like Puerto Rico or something. Because I distinctly remember seeing one where people came out cutting promos in Spanish and they were understood by the strictly Latino audience and then Savio Vega came out at one point when he was called out and got a really good pop, which was the indicator that they definitely weren't in the US. Savio Vega has never gotten a really good pop anywhere in the US.

It aired on Univision where I lived. I am not sure if the WWF had a deal with Univision or if it was syndicated like Jakked/Metal were, but only on Spanish networks and it happened to be on a Univision affiliate.
I watched it sometimes. It even had midget wrestlers on there like Mini Nova (Who was later unmasked) and Max Mini (Who was unmasked and used as a backstage interviewer). I even remember the reformation of Los Boricuas (Though Savio Vega was like a manager since he was still injured at that point), which was like the main event program of that show against other guys, but I forgot their names.
Also, I remember the lovely Maria Felipe, who was a backstage interviewer on that show. Man, she was hot.

Well, I'm sure in it's orgins, it was filmed with a Hispanic Crowd, much like how Shotgun was shot in a bar, or Heat was the B show. Then product decay set in, and it just became the hour prior to Raw dubbed into Spainish.
Yeah, prior to Montreal, or the Godwin Era, RAW is WAR was still booked in old WWF fashion. With namely cameos from the superstars and a lot of jobber matches. Mini and Light Heavyweights were brought in as part of an attempt to make this period more competitive with Nitro. Good times.

Other things I remember about that show was that, like someone else mentioned, Val Venis appearing on that show. I was wondering what the deal was, but when he cut a promo, not only was he flirting with Maria Felipe, but he also seems to speak Spanish decently, if not well. Probably because he wrestled in Mexico at one point, as well as being married to a Mexican woman.
Also, Papi Chulo being on that show. This was before being known as Essa Rios. Also, the other main eventers for that show I remember were Negro Casas and Apolo Dantes. I found some videos on YouTube and it refreshed my memory from earlier.

Damn, I don't remember this at all and am surprised it hasn't come up on the boards sooner.
I think I might have flipped by it a few times on the Spanish channel, but always figured it was a Spanish rebroadcast of Raw.

Because Telemundo used to show RAW on there until maybe a month ago.

It used to air on Telemundo in Chicago during the late '90's. They would tape matches before Raw. I actually went to an event where we seen Miguel Perez (who was in the Boriquas) have a match, in addition to an awesome classic featuring Max Mini.
Basically, it was like a WWF take on Lucha Libre that never took off. MAYBE if it was promoted on Raw, but that's highly unlikely.
