DDP automatically wins this contest based on the first few months alone. While his enpowerment gimmick would be really funny later, just the fact he became in 2001 what Dusty Rhodes was in 1989 was horrendous. Would that make Christian his Sapphire then?

I wasn't going on that particular pathway, but I see where you're coming from. TBH, I don't know who could be the Sapphire role besides Kanyon apart from Christian.

Even though his gimmick was a joke, Dusty was never really booked like a joke during that run. He was probably the second or third most popular babyface for most of his run.

Since I don't see Vader up there (sabotaged by Clique-era HBK's temper tantrums) Oh, Vader and Michaels certainly didn't get along, but that was hardly the only reason he drifted down the card. I think roughing up that journalist in Kuwait had more to do with it. The worst indignities Vader was subjected to (losing the mask, calling himself a piece of shit, jobbing to everyone under the sun) didn't come until after WM14, anyway.

Goldberg, Nash, and Steiner all participated in big storylines/feuds pretty much right off the bat. DDP stalked Taker's horse-faced ex and got pinned by her. I don't think it takes much to figure out who got the shaft here.
Makes it even nicer to see that he's doing pretty well marketing his workout videos.

AT least DDP got a wrestlemania match. However dude was old back then, I think he would have been used better if he didn't break his neck. Guy was still over, he is just an old dude.
I'm going to say Scott Steiner. Dude got a huge return, however he did not heal up at all. he did not even get a wrestlemania match. After main eventing with HHH dude fell way down to Heat, and never really came back after that.
I mean dude could have had a match at XX still, maybe tag him with somebody and put him in that tag team turmoil.

This is basically a no contest. There can't be a better answer here than DDP, although Scott Steiner would probably take second place. Scotty takes second, but it's a distant second. DDP got treated back then how Randy Savage would be treated now if the Stephanie rumors were true.

The way they misused DDP was just baffling. Yeah the guy was getting up there in the years, but he could still go and most importantly was still over as hell. But of course because he's a WCW guy, he couldn't possibly be made to look in the same league as the top WWF names. DDP's whole run is a shining example of how Vince's bitter streak can really hurt the company and epitomises the failure of the Invasion angle.

Vader should've beat Shawn at SummerSlam 96 and had a reign of terror. Instead, he was a joke.

Vader. And I can sum it up in one sentence - "I'm a piece of crap, A BIG FAT PIECE OF CRAP!" Of course, when Vader and Goldust came back for that brief angle with Coach and Austin, Vader showed up in the worst shape of his life, and indeed WAS a Big fat piece of crap. One has to wonder if Vader would have got a second actual run had he not embarrassed himself.

I was all set to answer Goldberg, I mean they should have had some kind of plan in mind for the guy after The Rock left, but then I read this thread and the suppressed memories of the 'Taker/DDP feud came flooding back (damn you)..so yeah DDP. I can't understand how he isn't on a commentary team in either the 'E or TNA by now.

To this day I never understood why DDP got shortchanged by WWE. There was an instant feud with the Rock: Self Appointed Peoples' Champ vs the real Peoples' Champ This X1000, it wrote itself ffs

DDP easily. Nash, Steiner, and Goldberg all at least got involved in the main event. They may have stunk, but at least they were there. DDP stinking it up on the midcard was just depressing to watch as a WCW fan.

The way they used DDP would be similar to if TNA somehow got Shawn Michaels to join their roster, gave him some perverted gimmick and had him constantly lose to Jeff Jarrett.

We were never going to get People's Champ vs. People's Champ and that makes me sad looking back. The problem with all of the names mentioned was they weren't able to stick around long enough or stay healthy long enough to rebound after their bad booking.
DDP had nagging injuries and injured his neck in a match with Bob Holly and left after doing his best to make his self help gimmick work.
Nash injured his bicep and had a quadriceps tear during the nWo angle which helped shorten that storyline. He then got thrown into the middle of the Reign of Terror and at least got an Elimination Chamber match before having neck surgery.
Steiner at least came in and was pushed decently. Raw and Smackdown fought over his services...but then we got another Reign of Terror feud which was set up with pushup contests and pose offs. He was never at the level he was before his injuries at WCW's end and was released after getting injured.
Goldberg at least had the best run out of all of them as much as some of us hate it. He destroyed the Rock and took the title off of Triple H. Then on top of that he got to go over Brock Lesnar at Mania after Brock angered management by putting in his notice.
I'm sure if any of those guys stayed healthy, they would have been able to regain the heat lost in their initial butchering by creative. Heck, Booker T did it.

DDP easily. Steiner & Nash were way past their prime, and Goldberg at least got exposure in the main event with Triple H and got a title run.

Definitely DDP. Steiner and Goldberg at least got some decent feuds (and Goldberg got a WHC run). And while Nash's run in WWE wasn't great, he already had a pretty cushy run as WWF Champion as Diesel back in the mid-90's.
DDP's entire WWE career was just sad.
