With the various eras of the WWE, which 4 wrestlers best represent that era, in character, ring skill, and popularity? For me it would be like this: Pre-Hogan: Sammartino, Monsoon, Backlund, Morales
Hulkamania era: Hogan, Piper, Warrior, Savage
New Generation: Bret, Owen, Razor, Michaels
Attitude: Austin, Rock, Taker, Foley
Ruthless Agression/Post Attitude: Benoit, Eddie, Lesnar, Angle
Modern era: Cena, Edge, HHH, Orton
Agree or disagree?

Bump Benoit from the Ruthless Aggression era (great talent, but being part of the SmackDown Six and a single lacklustre title reign doesn't cut it) and put Triple H there instead (his main runs were during this era and the Modern Era guys only came into their own after he quieted down a bit). I'd give Mysterio the nod as the fourth guy in the Modern Era, two (admittedly crap) title reigns, big enough draw, very over.

It feels weird having Piper in there and no Andre. I'd have also put Trips in the Ruthless Aggression era and possibly Jericho?

As much as I hate to say it, I would take Owen out of the New Generation group and replace him with Diesel.

I agree with all of that , excpet Lesnar. He was not there long enough to be considered one of the big 4. Replace him with Jericho.

Only change is I'd put Edge in the modern era over Rey.

Could make arguments for a few others like Triple H again or Edge.

Less convinced on Lesnar, but that aside, I think it's pretty fair.

I think this generation and last generation are the two with the most room for argument.
Cena and Orton are obvious, and I'd probably put Batista in there too, but as far as Edge or Rey go I'm not 100% convinced on either of them.

Edge is definetly a shoein for the Top 4 in the modern era IMO. Lets look at what he did 9 time World Champion (tied with Cena, more than Orton/Batista) 2010 Royal Rumble Winner Biggest Heel on Raw in 2006 and biggest heel on smackdown from 2007-2009. In a world title match at Wrestlemania in 2008, 2009, and 2010 I guess you can say he hasent really done much in 2010, and he spent a lot of time injured but he was definetly a major star from 2006-2009

I think the 80's should be split up like this -
Rock and Wrestling era (83-87)- Hogan, Piper, Savage Andre Late 80s early nineties (88-92) - Hogan, Flair, Ultimate Warrior, Dibiase As for the rest, Schlapowitz nailed it.

Taker was missing for a big chunk of it and even his big Ministry angle led to a Vince reveal as the mastermind. Foley had three amazing characters and help put over Austin, Taker and HHH.

Love him or loathe him, Lesnar's ugly mug was very much the face of the WWE for a good chunk of the so-called Ruthless Aggression era. As much as I love Jericho, I don't think he can be considered in the big 4 in any era. He didn't really come into his own until the tail-end of the Attitude era IMO. My list would be: Hulkamania era: Hogan, Andre, Ultimate Warrior, Savage New Generation: Bret, HBK, Diesel, Sid Attitude: Austin, Rock, Foley, Undertaker Ruthless Aggression: Lesnar, Angle, Triple H, Guerrero Modern era: Cena, Orton, Batista, Edge

Now that I think about it, I'll list some honorable mentions- it's very hard to limit it to four for each.
Pre-Hogan: Morales, Backlund, Sammartino, Graham (HM: Iron Shiek) Rock 'n Wrestling: Hogan, Andre, Savage, Piper (HM: Warrior) New Generation: HBK, Undertaker, Bret Hart, Razor Ramon (HM: Diesel) Attitude: Foley, Austin, Rock, Mr. McMahon (HM: DX) Ruthless Aggression: Jericho, Lesnar, Angle, HHH (HM: Eddie Guerrero) WWE Universe: Orton, Cena, Edge, Mysterio (HM: Batista)
