Sorry for any misunderstanding but what I meant when I posted the thread was an entire episode of reaction that was solely about the imortal angle had every bit of suspenstion of disbelife kill as soon as the credits rolled. Perhaps I could have titled it better but if Im not mistaken kayfabe is just keeping up suspenstion of disbelife. Again I know it's a work it just that i felt that it was a bit of a story killer and that's the last thing this angle needed Kayfabe and suspension of disbelief are different things. Kayfabe is making the audience believe that everything happening is real, while suspension of disbelief is the audience knows it's fake but they refuse to let that fact take away from enjoying the show they're watching. Showing Dixie's name at the end of Reaction certainly breaks kayfabe, but if the audience suspends their disbelief, then it should be no big deal because anyone who follows all the backstage goings-on of TNA know that Dixie isn't actually gone from TNA despite the story that TNA is currently presenting.

Kafabe's been dead for a couple of decades thanks to Vince McMahon. I blame late era WCW more with all the worked shoots and speeches about how the company is falling a part at PPVs. I'm sure Vince did some stuff too, but I can think of any examples. From Slam Wrestling: "n 1989, Vince McMahon confessed, once and for all, before the New Jersey State Senate that professional wrestling matches were staged events. It was an effort on McMahon's part, successful as it turned out, to get around taxation on his house shows and pay-per-view events. "

Someone took it up with Dixie on Twitter:
Bunz62: @ebischoff if u wanted to truly "sell" what ur doin then maybe take@TNADixie off Reaction ending credits
Dixie: See how stupid THEY are
So THEY were TNA's production crew this whole time.

I have received an email from RAW's anonymous General Manager. And I quote: "No play for Mr. Gray!"

What Vince did was a big deal, especially at that time because alot of people still believed it was an actual sporting event. you actually think that there were alot of people that had no idea that wrestling was scripted until Vince said that? uh no. it wasn't a big deal, kayfabe was already dead, no one cared

People in the eighties knew that wrestling was scripted.
Yeah they 'came clean' or what have you then; but it's not as if ninety percent of your fanbase wasn't aware that it wasn't a sport then, let's not kid ourselves.

Dixie even called it stupid on Twitter. And when DIXIE calls it stupid, good lord, you know it's a flub.

Kayfabe being dead isn't just a TNA thing, it's like that in WWE too. Just last night on Smackdown, they showed that Make a Wish spot where the heels are being all nice and sweet to dying kids. Back in the 80's, you would have never seen the Million Dollar Man or Bobby Heenan on camera helping sick kids. This makes me imagine some sort of skit where Bobby Heenan or Ted DiBiase meet with a boy who's obviously sick and dying in a hospital bed, and acts very sweet and kind and offers to take them to Disneyland for the day, only to turn heel on them and tell them they have better things to do with their time then waste a day with some little sickly brat! Talk about heel heat...

Uh... really? Vince McMahon killed kayfabe. There's no debate to this. 1989, 1991, and 1997 are all years he basically took a knife to kayfabe and sliced it a little closer to death. SS97 he flat out murdered it.
It doesn't matter people. EVERYONE knows it's staged. If you want a more kayfabed approach, WWE actually is doing a good job right now. I'd rather a wrestling company not treat me like a child, but that's my preference.
