I just watched tna reaction where for an hour they said how Dixie Carter ilwas gone from tna only to post her as Excutive Producer. Now yes I know this is a work but this type of thing is why you do not see credits at the end of wrestling shows

Hah, I didn't even notice that. I mean, I get why it's done, but damn, you're right, way to make the storyline look dumb.

Nothing like calling your EP a moron and cursing her out. Then again maybe Bischoff put that in to make Dixie look like an even bigger moron. Guess we'll see if she's still listed next week.

Kayfabe being dead isn't just a TNA thing, it's like that in WWE too. Just last night on Smackdown, they showed that Make a Wish spot where the heels are being all nice and sweet to dying kids. Back in the 80's, you would have never seen the Million Dollar Man or Bobby Heenan on camera helping sick kids.

There's nothing wrong with admitting it's scripted outside of the show but when you do it on the show it's just silly. It would be like if in the middle of a movie the actors all broke character for a bit.

It's not that big of a deal, it's a name in a closing credit. 99% of people who watch knows she's still the owner. What Vince did was a big deal, especially at that time because alot of people still believed it was an actual sporting event.

Even behind the scenes, wrestlers were conveyed as being real.

At the risk of drawing more "TNA=WCW!" comments, didnt WCW's continue listing Bischoff during its credits when he was the head of the nwo? Im thinking 96-97, and remember Cornette mentioning it in one of his "Im Jim Cornette and that my opinion!" rants on Raw.

Now yes I know this is a work but this type of thing is why you do not see credits at the end of wrestling shows You did if you watched an NWA or early WCW PPV! A live television show still needs a producer. It's not that far of a stretch, IMHO.

Sorry for any misunderstanding but what I meant when I posted the thread was an entire episode of reaction that was solely about the imortal angle had every bit of suspenstion of disbelife kill as soon as the credits rolled. Perhaps I could have titled it better but if Im not mistaken kayfabe is just keeping up suspenstion of disbelife. Again I know it's a work it just that i felt that it was a bit of a story killer and that's the last thing this angle needed

That kayfabe was ever alive is the biggest reason why wrestling fans have earned the reputation for being stupid. If you even once thought pro wresting was real (unscripted) past the age of six, then you qualify for the Special Olympics.

Kayfabe-shattering things happen regularly during the actual programming of both companies, I'm not too worried personally over end credits.

It's dead, it had to happen eventually and I wouldn't put the blame on anyone really for that.
Sometimes, though, when you watch old wrestling events from the '80s through to early '90s, it's pretty obvious that there was quite a few people who did still believe the whole thing and they created an immensely enjoyable atmosphere. I do miss that aspect of it.
