If I'm putting it in a US sense, it would be if Comcast succeeded in buying NBC Universal and scrapped USA. This deal was more like BSkyB having outright brought the rights to these channels and then deciding which ones to keep and which to not. At least, that's how it seems.

So the entire media presence of Bravo TV in the UK is gone? Sucks...there goes TNA's claim of having the number 1 show in the UK.

Looking at it, it was surprising at first but reading the story, it makes sense from the way that band of channels was going. I'm just wondering what TNA will do next. Their UK presence isn't exactly small.

If it's large, I'm sure someone's going to step up and put them on their network. This might work out in the long run for them.

I'm not too familiar with the UK scene when it comes to wrestling. Exactly how big is TNA against the WWE there? Is it like in the States where there is a clear line between the two companies, or are they at about the same position ratings and fan-wise?

I'd say that WWE always has the advantage on live events because, well, they're WWE and TNA has the advantage TV wise simply because they're on 'free' TV and not with Sky or any kind of extra payment broadcaster. I don't know if TNA's UK tour has fully sold out but I do know that alot of tickets have been sold so if someone more in the know would know about that, that'd be great.

Well TNA is shown on Bravo which is a channel which if you get Satellite or Cable you get as part of the basic package, whereas WWE is shown on Sky Sports, which you pay an extra amount a month to get so the figures are a bit skewed, still if you take Impact's first showing on a Saturday it gets about 100,000 and then another 40,000 on the +1 channel. Whereas Raw is shown live at 2am on Tuesday Morning and gets 75,000 viewers and the next showing after that (9pm on a Thursday) normally gets the same viewers roughly.

Well, to be frank, this sucks for TNA themselves and for TNA fans over here. There aren't many channels here that will be willing to take them on. There's a possibility that Extreme Sports will agree a deal to air Impact, considering they already air Xplosion and PPV's. In fact, I expect that but still, a lot less people get the channel.

I love Extreme Sports. Although it gets annoying when they play TNA PPVs the week after, which often conflicts with the live WWE ones on Sky Sports.

Does this mean us TNA fans in the UK can't watch it on TV anymore?! I'll not be happy if it does...

They said that some shows will go onto Sky 3, that could be a excellent channel for TNA.

I wonder what will happen to the PPVs if they go to Sky 3? Hopefully there'll be early morning showings like the golden days of TWC so I can tape them, I don't think they'll have any stupid ideas about putting them on box office.
On a side note it's interesting about them buying exclusive HBO rights, hopefully they'll repeat the wire and the sopranos. However it's bad news for some of the other channels that usually buy their shows and will probably stop to any future joint projects between HBO and the BBC (Band of Brothers and extras).

So Sky bought a group of channels just so they can close them? Wow, Ofcom certainly did their job protecting the interests of viewers there. I hope TNA send feelers out to the folks running Channel Five as they're the type of programming Five loves... Plus they're basically the UK version of Spike TV, given how they have UFC and CSI reruns a plenty.

I obviously don't know this for fact but I'd be very surprised if there isn't a part of the contract between sky and WWE that prevents sky from showing any other wrestling promotion on their sky branded channels.

I was thinking the same. Even if that's not the case, the WWE/Sky relationship is one that goes back 25 years and is beneficial to both. I really don't think Sky would showcase WWE's biggest rival.
