I've been doing a little thinking over the past 24 hours and I've come to the conclusion the the way I set up this contest is flawed. Therefore, I'm going to scrap this contest and start anew. I think I've come up with a better, more streamlined way to do this.
Here's how the contest works. First I'll list each team in the 4 Major American Sports Leagues (MLB, NBA, NFL & NHL) that has won at least one championship. (No offense to the fans of the teams that got left out but if a team hasn't won at least one title then they can't be called the greatest.)
From that list you select the 8 teams that you believe are the greatest franchises in that sports history. The Elite 8 of each sport if you will. The entire history of the teams should be considered not just where they stand today.
The 8 teams in each league that get the most votes will advance to the next part of the contest.
Once 8 teams from each sport are determined these 32 teams will be placed in a tournament to crown The Greatest North American Sports Franchise Ever.
Today we will focus on The National Football League.
MLB Elite 8: Boston Red Sox New York Yankees Los Angeles Dodgers St. Louis Cardinals Atlanta Braves Oakland Athletics San Francisco Giants Chicago Cubs
NBA Elite 8: Boston Celtics Los Angeles Lakers Chicago Bulls Detroit Pistons San Antonio Spurs Houston Rockets Philadelphia 76ers New York Knicks

NFL Championships won before the Super Bowl as well as AAFC and AFL Championships count. However NFL and AFL Championships won between 1966 (first Super Bowl) and the 1970 NFL-AFL Merger do not count.

No vote for the Patriots because I hate them and no one said I had to be objective.

Looking at the list I realized I forgot to include the Denver Broncos. Since the vote is already underway here's what I'll do. Once the Elite 8 have been determined I'll have the team(s) with the fewest votes face the Broncos in a tiebreaker. If the Broncos get more votes than that team they'll take that team's spot in the Elite 8.
