My favourite Metallica song is 'Mama Said,' so I don't think I'm licensed to comment.
But I always thought 'Outlaw Torn' was an amazing song.

Yeah, The Outlaw Torn is an amazing song. I think I would have to agree on the most underrated thing.
Shout out for Bleeding Me too though.

Fixxer and The Outlaw Torn are pretty good, but from that era nothing even comes close to King Nothing. Yeah, I love that song too. My favorite one off that album probably.

I love Death Magnetic but, there is only one thing that keeps me from listening to it a lot. It is so damn loud! I am afraid to put my Ipod on shuffle for fear of Cyanide coming on Y'know, on iTunes you can edit the volume level on any song to make it play louder or softer.

I know that supposedly the band themselves hate it, but I LOVE "The Thing That SHould Not Be".

Sure, King Nothing was great, but this was supposed to be about underrated songs. King Nothing was a fairly big hit. (it's also my favorite song off the album too)

As far as Load goes I really like King Nothing, Hero of The Day (and even better is the S&M version) and Ronnie (which tends to be really maligned for some reason).
One song that I feel is criminally underrated song off of Re-Load is Prince Charming

You give me half of Load and half of ReLoad and I have a great album,Outlaw Torn,Bleeding Me,Fixxxer,Devil's Dance, and 2 X 4 are some of the best;St.Anger can go to hell though,I can listen to it without the vocals,James was out of tune and it is grating on the ears!

Another really good Load/ReLoad tune that doesn't get much love is The House Jack Built.
As for Load/ReLoad in general, I don't get the hate either. First off, Load is great and pretty much every song is good. ReLoad is very hit or miss, but when you consider that they had previously done six albums that were nearly flawless, having one that's just "ok" isn't much to complain about.
I actually think those albums (and St. Anger) needed to happen. Many people hail Death Magnetic as a "return to form", and while it does primarily follow the blueprint of the first 4 albums, there's no denying the influence of the 90's stuff. End of The Line and Cyanide both have Load type grooves, My Apocalypse sounds like it could have been on the Black Album, Unforgiven III has a S&M influence, and Broken, Beat, And Scarred is basically a St. Anger song with better production. Besides, when Metallica performs live, and they pull stuff out from all their various "eras" it really does sound like a collective whole.
