Wow. So it's pretty short? And it's STILL some peoples favorite show of all time? Must be worth watching. It's essentially the epitome of the space western, so if that is your thing, you'd probably like it. I've always heard good things, but wasn't sure about getting into it since I knew it was cancelled way early.

Well, well, well...looks like we showed up just in the nick of time. What's that make us, Zoe? Big Damn Heroes, sir. So MUCH love for this show. The last great Adventure I've seen in any media, where the heroes really seemed to be enjoying themselves at least as much as they were angsting. I think that's why I didn't like the movie, it lost that.

I think that's why I didn't like the movie, it lost that. Well, early on they were all still smartasses (Can we go back to the part where Jayne gets knocked out by a 90 lb. girl, 'cause that part never gets old), but the gravity of the situation affected them all. In addition, the end of the movie finally provided Mal with a noble purpose, something that I think that his character had been looking for since the end of the war, so I think that it fit perfectly. After the situation was over, they started getting back to being the loose, smartypants selves.

I love this Gorram series. I still quote Sheppard Book when someone is talking in the theatre with "You know there's a special place in Hell for Child Molesters and people who talk at the theatre."

had an ex that really dug it, she even dressed as one of the characters for conventions and such. Got into it through her, but the fallout of our relationship has kind of steered me away from the things we liked together.

Jubal Early is one of the truly great one-off characters ever. He is hard of hearing, a little unhinged, willing to be brutal, able to size up people at a glance (That ain't no Sheppard), too easy to be friendly, and hears voices. It was a nuanced performance that required multiple viewings to catch everything involved.

Best show ever. I seriously believe that if Fox hadn't screwed with it so much, it would still be on the air today. Or at least it would have gotten a respectable run. On the other hand, I'm a fan of Joss Whedon's other series', and they tended to jump the shark rather drastically, imo, after a few seasons so perhaps it's for the best. Still waiting on another gorram movie though.

Well, it was canceled in the middle of its first season. They filmed one last episode after the decision was made, though it was no finale, but it did not leave with a cliffhanger either. The movie Serenity acted more as the series finale as it was set nearly a year later, so it is more or less required viewing to conclude things. There is some talk of a sequel movie spurred on purely by DVD sales as the movie kind of flopped at the theatre (but really, it came out at a horrible time of year for a SciFi film). Wow. So it's pretty short? And it's STILL some peoples favorite show of all time? Must be worth watching. The characters will suck you in and not let you go.

Awesome show, and the vibe of it almost feels like a live action Cowboy Bebop if you like anime.

So I'm not sure if I would be interested. {Spoiler}Wash was my favorite character so it just feels crippled without him.

That's another thing. I loved how they snuck profanity in by saying it in Chinese and substituting letters in English, as if the profanity would have evolved over the centuries.
Also, this is the show that gave us Christina Hendricks, so there's that too.

Saw the movie with my then-fiance and she was upset because {Spoiler}Shepard was her favorite character, but I wasn't surprised because of Joss and his willingness to off people in Buffy and Angel. Wasn't singing the same tune when {Spoiler}Wash bought it. I used to have the series, but the ex took it with her. I was an especially big fan of Our Mrs. Reynolds episode. "Wow... good Bible." *sighs* Maybe with some Christmas money.

"Don't you think you should move on?" I loved the reference in castle.
Has anybody read the graphic novels? Are they worth reading?
In the UK I think that Firefly is on the Horror channel at the moment at 8pm, although it may have finished it's run by now, it's the second time it's been on this year so I expect it will be one again.
It does annoy me that this was cancelled, I much prefer it to star trek and stargate and they run forever with multiple spin-offs (not that I have anything against those shows).
