Iron Maiden's Final Frontier is not there, but a Kid Rock album is? Ok then. I thought The Final Frontier was rather forgettable for the most part (with the exception of the absolutely brilliant "When The Wild Wind Blows"), so that album not being on the list doesn't really come as a surprise to me. Sure, it's probably still better than Kid Rock... ...with that said, I haven't heard any of the albums on the list so I probably shouldn't be saying anything because I'm horribly out of touch with today's music. For me, the best album of the year is A View From The End Of The World by Machinae Supremacy, the greatest SID metal band on earth. I still generally prefer the stuff they made before they got the contract with Spinefarm Records, but this album is easily the best material they've released in years.

Rolling Stone always blows it with their year end lists, IMO. Their #21 was my #1, however. Here's the list I put together and put up on the music forum I visit:
1. Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty - Big Boi 2. Age Of Adz - Sufjan Stevens 3. The Social Network OST - Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross 4. Swim - Carribou 5. Our Future Your Clutter - The Fall 6. Small Craft On Milk Sea - Brian Eno 7. Seconds Late For The Brighton Line - The Legendary Pink Dots 8. Archandroid - Janelle Monae 9. Grinderman 2 - Grinderman 10. Ski I Allt - Dungen 11. Cosmogramma - Flying Lotus 12. Halcyon Digest - Deerhunter 13. All Alone In An Empty House - Lost In The Trees 14. My Father Will Guide Me Up A Rope To The Sky - Swans 15. Cizana De Los Amores - Omar Rodriguez Lopez 16. This Is Happening - LCD Soundsystem 17. Absolute Dissent - Killing Joke 18. How To Destroy Angels - How To Destroy Angels 19. Go - Jonsi 20. Constance - The Restoration 21. Shobaleader One: d'Demonstrator - Squarepusher (reviews weren't great for this one, but I'm a sucker for everything he does) 22. Soldier Of Love - Sade 23. Brothers - The Black Keys 24. Heligoland - Massive Attack 25. Sepulcros de Miel - Omar Rodriguez Lopez Quartet 26. Gorilla Manor - Local Natives 27. Suburbs - Arcade Fire 28. Metallic Spheres - The Orb w/ David Gilmour 29. Iron Maiden's Final Frontier is not there, but a Kid Rock album is? Ok then. Rolling Stone's been riding Kid Rock's dick for years. Why, I have no idea. Don't they know where it been? Remember when Rolling Stone and MTV claimed Kid Rock and Limp Bizkit were bringing the fun back to rock after the Grunge years?

I still have a few to listen to that were on my list, but I'm completely certain that this is my favorite of the year from all I've heard. I absolutely love this album. Beautiful stuff, check out the song "Dreaming Light": www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBtFYJPbayg

Big Boi and Kanye would be tied for 1st on my list of Best Albums of 2010. Both are just classics. Also, I agree with Drake's album being too high, since I thought it was pretty bland. Same with Recovery. Relapse was a much stronger effort, IMO.

No CKY?! I don't care that they didn't release an album this year, they deserve to be on the list. Just cause!

For me a few of the best:
Murder By Death - Good Mourning Magpie Ludo - Prepare the Preparations Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
Elvis Costello, not sure the name.
There were a few great albums, but this is the least I have been in to music any year ever.

Am I the only one who thinks literally every album on this list totally blows? To the above and the other folks hating on the entirety of this list: have you actually listened to every album on that list?

Thank you, sir. The Big Boi album really blew me away... It's unlike anything he's ever done before. It's really, really good. Best hip hop album I've heard in years, honestly. Hell, I even like the song with Gucci, and I can't stand that guy!
As for the new Kanye... I think it's a tad overrated. I'm not a Kanye hater, at all; I think the guy is the most talented main stream hip hop producer out there, right now. He's just a terrible rapper, singer, and lyricist. This new album has some amazing mixes, though, and the arrangements are very creative and pristine... I mean, the dude sampled Can, fer chrissakes, a few albums ago, and here he is now on this album sampling Aphex Twin and King Crimson? That's cool as hell, if you ask me. The pieces sound SO good... until he opens his mouth. There are some truly awful lyrics and vocal delivery here by Kanye, and the sad thing is that he's better than almost all of his guest artists on these given songs... even if the guests are far more talented rappers or singers than him in another setting, like Jay Z. That said, if he would just produce for other artists and not sing or rap but a few verses here and there, it'd be all gold. I'd honestly give his new album **1/2 out of 5... take away 'Ye's subpar rapping, laughable lyrics, and bad singing, it would certainly be in the 4 star range.
/Rant.

Whuh? Kanye West sampled Aphex Twin? I kind of want to hear that because Aphex Twin rules.

It's nothing big or really noticeable, but it's there. The new Ye is definitely worth listening to and giving a chance... it's gotten all these great reviews for a reason. I'm just really picky on my rap.
