Really...............you are going to go after the fans for rioting despite the fact this has been done a gazillion times. Oh yeah cause rioting is just so common EVERYWHERE. This kind of stuff doesnt ALWAYS happen. It does way too often but not everywhere. If every city rioted it would still be disgusting even if it was in the DFW metroplex.

Stupid people can't follow baseball.
It doesn't involve a bunch of guys slamming into each other, with timed breaks to go eat junk food and drink beer and get fatter.

Baseball is the thinking man's sport. America doesn't think, therefore.

With all this talk of Cliff Lee and the Yankees...anyone else notice the similarities between Lee and Kevin Brown?
Late Bloomer? Check.
Comes out of nowhere to dominate? Check.
Does really well in the Playoffs? Check.
Beats up on the Yankees? Check.
Likely to be overpaid by NY and not produce to the level expected by Yankee management? Probably.

AL Cy Young is going to be interesting. I think you're going to see a clash between the more old fashioned voters who will likely go with Sabathia and the guys who rely entirely on sabremetrics, who will likely go for Felix Hernandez. I'm in the Sabathia camp, personally. I want to see how well Hernandez can pitch on a team that actually has a chance at a winning season, much less a playoff berth, before I give him any sort of award for pitching. On the other hand, Halladay is a shoe-in for NL Cy Young. Not sure about the Rookies of the Year. I'd say Neftali Feliz for AL (if he counts?) and Buster Posey for NL. Pretty sure Hamilton and Votto will be MVP's, with an outside chance of Cano or even Miguel Cabrera for the AL. Not sure if he'd qualify, but I think Buck Showalter deserves AL Manager of the Year. What he did with the Orioles is amazing. I think it's more complex than that. Their(saber) beef stems primarily from the indication that CC is gonna get it based off his W/L. While CC had an excellent season, I thought Felix was superior in just about every category that he has control over. It's kinda like Lincecum in the NL Cy last year. You have the wins leader(Wainwright), but you have a pitcher with fewer wins but was more outstanding(Lincecum). I think Felix gets it this year.

You have the wins leader(Wainwright), but you have a pitcher with fewer wins but was more outstanding(Lincecum). I think Felix gets it this year. The thing with Hernandez is that he pitched with zero pressure. Yes, he had amazing stats, but I'm sure CC could've gotten the same stats, if not better, if he was pitching in Seattle and didn't have to play a single game that mattered. Seattle's hopes of being any sort of contender died in May while CC had to more or less hold up an entire pitching staff of the defending world champions (well, him and Hughes, but Hughes benefited a lot from run support). There's also something to be said about pitching to a situation. You're not going to use your best stuff if your team is blowing out the competition 13-2. So that artificially inflates some of CC's stats like ERA, WHIP, etc. I don't think Seattle ever came close to giving Hernandez a blowout to work with. As far as Lincecum goes, at least he had a pretty impressive W/L total of 15-7 even if he didn't get the highest. Hernandez has a pathetic 13-12 (which, to be fair to him, has a lot to do with his horrible team). Timmy was also on a team that was actually competitive, even if they didn't make the postseason. If Felix Hernandez can pitch that well on a competing team with pressure to pitch his best every game, then yes, he deserves a Cy Young. Until then, if I was a writer, I'd rather give my vote to CC or David Price despite Hernandez's better sabermetric stats. I can think of at least a few other pitchers that deserve a Cy Young this year over Hernandez, and I think it'd be a f***ing sham if he won.

Baseball isn't prone to giving Cy Young Awards to guys on bad teams....recent example: Zack Greinke.
I could totally see King Felix winning it over Fatbathia.

Before the World Series (or any other MLB series for that matter) is played, several hundred T-shirts and hats with "World Champions" are preprinted for both teams so that it's readily available for on-field celebrations with family members after the series.
So there were boxes of Rangers hats and T-shirts in case they won the World Series. What happens to that stuff now?
It goes to World Vision, a charity organization, which donates it to needy folks around the world. Jeff Fields, corporate relations senior director for the organization, is always pulling for a 7-game series.
"Stores pre-order merchandise once their team gets to three wins," Fields said. "So we have more merchandise if a series goes seven games."
Fields figures his organization will get around 300 hats and T-shirts with Rangers "World Champions" stuff on them. Those are likely headed to Nicaragua, El Salvador, Romania and maybe a few countries in Africa. Wherever there's the most need.
"It’s a brand new shirt or hat and in many acaes, they’ve never received something brand new," Fields said.
Several other sports leagues do the same thing to be sure the clothing is wasted and is put to good use. I still think they should Auction off say 5% of the looser merchandise and all procedes go to charity. Because Im sure sonme people will pay WAY over face value for a looser championship shirt or hat.

I think it'd be kinda fun to own a loser shirt or cap. Sort of like having "Dewey Defeats Truman."

Somewhere I have a "HOLY COW CUBS WIN" shirt from the 2003 NLCS. Picked it up at a TJ Maxx a few years back. I consider that my Dewey defeats Truman piece.

Reds are declining to bring back Aaron Harang and Orlando Cabrera for next season.
Thank god. Harang was an albatross and Paul Janish is the SS of the future in Cincinnati. He has Cabrera defeated defensively in every way imaginable.

Texas dropped Vladimir Guerrero's option.. Come on Halos, bring him back. O God yes ,please. Our DH spot was anemic this past year. And he proved he can still go, the reason we let him go in the first place. Come on Tony, pull the trigger and bring back Vladdy.

paul sullivan is reporting that Sandberg has told Hendry he is leaving the cubs after being offered his job back in iowa.
paul sullivan is also reporting that Aramis Ramirez is coming back next season.
there are also rumors going around of cubs possibly getting James Loney.

Lost in all of this good team stuff is that the Pittsburgh Pirates still don't have a manager! A lot of people seem to think Tony Pena might get the job, but man I hope this isn't the case. I just don't see him doing a good job. Personally, I'd like to see Andy Van Slyke at least get an interview. He's done good work under Leyland in Detroit.
