I hired a DUI lawyer ranked in the top 5% of DUI lawyers in California and when I called him he said "who".
I'm beyond upset, but can't yell at my lawyer, he's my middle man between myself and the courts.
I just, I don't know. I'm horrified.

Hopefully you didn't say "It's Jim Neidhart"

If he's ranked that highly, he probably has a crap-ton of clients already. I wouldn't be too upset about it, since aids have probably done most of the legwork on your case anyways.

Well dude, you're probably screwed.
I'm just playing, I'm not sure if you should be concerned or not. It's definitely not good business to have no idea who your clients are, but if he's a good lawyer he's a good lawyer despite forgetting names.

What exactly does a DUI lawyer do anyway?
I mean, you were driving drunk. So you're guilty. What defense could he possibly conjure up?

Also, they can sometimes get the case thrown out by finding something in the arrest process that was done incorrectly by the police officers who arrested and performed the DUI tests. Slik know's he screwed up, but why allow them to throw the book at you if you can get a lesser punishment?

You usually end up paying more money to the lawyer who gets charged by the state for their license and the only reason you pay it is because you don't want your license taken away. It's just one of the many things wrong with the judicial system that needs to be fixed. This is exactly why I'm thinking of getting a hidden video camera and sound system put on my car.

My cousin's boyfriend is studying law and works under a high ranked lawyer himself. I can tell you that he has this happen a lot where he'll take care of a lot of the lawyer's foot work for him and it's usually after that the lawyer has any real idea about the case. I wouldn't be too worried about it unless he still doesn't know who you are while the case is going on.

I wouldn't worry too much, slik. Like others have pointed out, he probably got a lot of other clients and you can't blame the guy for not remembering the names of each and every one of them.

Yeah, its more likely hes very busy as opposed to incompetent. As long as his office doesn't double as a shoe repair store you'll be fine.

That's what you get for hiring an owl as a lawyer.
Personally I would have gone with a pigeon. They are much more reliable.
