There must be something I'm missing, because I can't figure out exactly where this guy's hatedom comes from. I don't think he's a bad actor at all (certainly not in A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints).
Did he say the wrong thing in an interview? Or is he seen as too "wimpy" to star in action franchises like Transformers and Indiana Jones by some fanboys?

I don't think its his acting so much as the fact that he seems to be chronically miscast in almost every movie he is in. When he is cast right I think hes great. Quick example This guy would've be a good chioce for the next Indian Jones.  This guy not so much.  |

I don't understand the hate either. I mean I'm not a fan of the guy's work, but he doesn't annoy me like, say, Michael Cera.

I can see why it irks people, he just has that kind of face you want to punch till his stupid smile goes away, but ive come to like the guy, I can really appreciate a guy that wont pretend the movie he was in wasn't a piece of shit even if it was directed by Spielberg.

-Because he went form an innocent kids show star to a major movie star. Since most of his haters are in his age range I think that plays a factor in it. When he was the kid in Even Stevens that was one thing but once he was cast remakes or new versions of iconic 80's projects he became threating

Which begs the question, why are people complaining about Cera being the same character in his movies? Isn't it like complaining that Chuck Norris always plays the badass or Jackie Chan being always the underdog kung fu guy? |

Yeah I don't get that either. It's not like the guy is being miscast and Michael Cera plays those types very well. If people don't like those kinds of films or characters that's one thing, but judging him an actor against a type of role he's never going to play is unfair.

Because the girl from Even Stevens should be the one who's a big movie star...she's way better looking than him. And she recently did a nude scene! Just letting ya know. I think the hate comes from people holding him responsible for "raping their childhood" with Transformers and Indiana Jones. He's just an actor guys. An actor that I wish would do more straight up comedies. He was great in Even Stevens |
