idealize them?
Do you tend to accentuate the positives and ignore the negatives based on your desire for fornication with them?

I can see where it would for people, but outside of giving them the benefit of the doubt sometimes, it's not something I'm prone to doing. I'd generally prefer to get to know them for their faults as well as their selling points.

Yes, sadly.
It's why I'm still not over my ex after 7 months, even though she's a terrible person.

"P**** on a pedestal" as we call it around these here parts. It's a dangerous mindset that'll lead to lots of hurt.
I'm sure as hell guilty of it. :-\

No not really.
On a side note, Maria and Stacy Keibler were the best female wrestlers of all time.

It has once. A girl I had a thing for since I was ten. College made her abuse drugs and alcohol, she dropped out twice and made awful choices. I still defended her to the death.
It took her coming back, and us getting closer as friends to realize I didn't "love" her like I thought. She has changed her ways and is one of my best friends, but my crush made me put her on a pedastal.

Perhaps, but I too usually see the bad points. I just have learned from a young age to do so, I suppose.

I think a lot of people do this - it explains a lot of dumb choices people make in life when it comes to dating and marriage.

My first crush in middle school, and in high school. Both were in truth total bitches. But them aside, I haven't really done that.

Yep, I do it quite often.
I have a big crush on my girlfriends sister, mostly because she's younger, looks a lot like my GF (my type) and because theres no way I could ever have her, which makes me want her more. I often find myself idealising her even though I'm very happy with my GF, but I find myself kind of enjoying the fantasy even though it's often quite stressful. The worst part is I can't possibly tell my best friend about it (my GF).
I have to see her quite often which doesn't help so it's pretty messed up. So yes, I do this a lot.

I think everybody does it a little bit sometimes, and to a certain extent it can be a good thing; it can help you overlook harmless flaws in a person that would otherwise make having a relationship with them tougher. If you commit to a person, you do so knowing you're in for the good and the bad, so being able to ignore smaller foibles in a person isn't always bad.
Obviously, too often people overlook BIG glaring problems (i.e. girls who are over-possessive and selfish, guys who are violent or controlling, etc.). I can't say I've ever gone that far, but I have had a time or two when I've overlooked people taking advantage of my nature or my trust because I couldn't imagine them doing so...when I should've realized it all along.
That came with youth, and I like to think I've outgrown it, but time will tell.
